Rockers Oasis have been pipped to the best British comeback of all time by Gavin and Stacey. The Britpop legends reunion tour last year came second in a poll behind the beloved telly show’s big Christmas finale.
James Corden and Ruth Jones’ hit sitcom returned for an emotional final episode in 2024 and attracted a mammoth 19.1 million viewers. Rock hero Ozzy Osbourne’s tragic final homecoming concert in Birmingham last July came third and the classic Caramac sweet bar’s return in 2024 after public demand was fourth.
Millions of Brits tuned in to the Gavin and Stacey Christmas special in 2019, which saw character Nessa get down one on knee and ask Smithy to marry her.
And the 2024 follow-up finale attracted a huge viewing, making them two of the most watched shows in UK history.

A survey conducted by food brand Dr. Oetker, which itself is bringing back its fan favourite Ristorante Pollo pizza, found that pop band Take That’s reunion rounded off the top five.
