Major incident on Brighton seashore as ‘our bodies of three ladies’ discovered and pulled from water
Police and the coastguard rushed to Brighton beach on Wednesday morning, with emergency services pictured parked alongside the beach as lifeboats search the water
The bodies of three women have been pulled from the sea at Brighton beach this morning as emergency services swarm in at the scene.
Emergency services rushed to the beach alongside a helicopter and two lifeboats on Wednesday morning following reports of concern for three women in the sea. Emergency crews responded at around 5.45am. Sadly, the bodies of three women were recovered from the water near Madeira Drive.
Chief Superintendent Adam Hays said: “This is a tragic incident and fast-moving enquiries are ongoing to confirm the identities of these three women and understand exactly what has happened. I know this is concerning for the community, but I would ask the public to stay away from the scene at this time while emergency services continue their work.
“We will provide further updates as soon as they are available.”
Coastguard boats have been spotted in the water and there is a huge police presence on the shore. A coastguard helicopter can be seen flying overhead.
