Man Utd information: £40m switch ‘official supply’ replace given by boss as ‘negotiations start’

Manchester United are set for a busy summer in the transfer market as the club look to strengthen their squad ahead of a Champions League campaign

Manchester United are gearing up for a busy transfer window as they start laying the groundwork for the upcoming season.

Fresh signings are needed to balance their domestic goals with a Champions League campaign. Michael Carrick’s squad have enjoyed a more leisurely schedule than their competitors this season due to their absence from Europe. However, next season United will participate in at least eight European matches, while also aiming to contend at the top of the Premier League and fight for domestic cups.

Casemiro’s looming departure signals that United will be eyeing midfielders in the transfer market and the Red Devils reportedly plan to recruit at least five new players as their transfer strategy takes shape. Here’s all the latest news from Old Trafford.

Ederson transfer message received

Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi has insisted the club haven’t yet received any offers for Ederson, reports the Mirror.

While United have been strongly associated with the Brazilian, who is valued at around £40m, Percassi’s statement clarifies no club has formalised their interest ahead of the summer.

The 26-year-old has featured 40 times for the Italian outfit this campaign but is approaching the final 12 months of his contract.

While his deal could render Ederson more attainable than alternative midfield options, Atalanta’s CEO has provided an update regarding the player’s circumstances.

When questioned about Ederson, Percassi told Tuttomercatoweb: “We have no official offers, only interest from other teams.”

He added: “I think it’s unlikely that teams will make a move before the end of the season. Interest in our players is normal, but we’ll evaluate them at the right time with great serenity and calm.”

Summer wishlist becomes clear

United intend to recruit two midfielders this summer though a third could be brought in should Manuel Ugarte be offloaded. The Sun reports that the club aim to complete a minimum of five new signings.

Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson, Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton are among the numerous names linked with bolstering United’s midfield ranks.

Aurelien Tchouameni could also represent an opportunity following his breakdown at Real Madrid.

The reported transfer strategy also encompasses bringing in a new left-back to challenge Luke Shaw, alongside a backup striker to Benjamin Sesko. It is also suggested that United desire another goalkeeper to offer competition for Senne Lammens.

Negotiations ‘have begun’

TuttoSport claim negotiations have started between Juventus and their centre-back Pierre Kalulu over a new contract.

The defender has been a mainstay in Juve’s side under Luciano Spalletti, starting in all but one game since he arrived as head coach.

His current contract runs out in the summer of 2028, and talks are underway to negotiate and extension, which could impact any approach from United, who are said to be interested in the 25-year-old.

The French international is valued at around £35m.

Real Madrid ‘outcast’

United are weighing up a shock move for Real Madrid outcast Federico Valverde.

The Uruguayan midfielder has found himself an outcast in the Spanish capital, after a training ground bust-up with French team-mate Aurelien Tchouameni, that left Valverde needing hospital treatment for concussion.

It has ended his season and the 27-year-old Real vice captain was forced to issue a public statement and made a grovelling apology.

United are keeping close tabs on the situation and have shown interest in Tchouameni, 26, and Valverde.
