Michael Carrick is set to be offered a Manchester Untied contract that would see him take over as head coach after a successful period as interim

Manchester United are set to proposing an offer to Michael Carrick for a two-year contract as head coach.

Carrick, who took over as interim manager after the sacking of Ruben Amorim in January, has impressed in the dugout at Old Trafford. The Red Devils are third in the table, and look set to return to the Champions League next season.

And they could be doing so with Carrick at the helm, with talks reportedly underway after co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe gave the go-ahead following a meeting with chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox about Carrick’s future.

According to The Athletic, there is a possibility a resolution can be found in time for United’s final home game of the season against Nottingham Forest.

The report adds that the contract will see Carrick take charge of the Red Devils for two-year’s, with the option of an additional season to 2029.

His backroom staff are set to stay on, with assistant Steve Holland, coaches Jonathan Woodgate and Jonny Evans all set to land new deals. While Craig Mawson, who was promoted to first-team goalkeeping coach, will also maintain a senior role.
