Newly-elected Reform councillor quits after secret life as ‘grownup star’ uncovered

Stephen Mousdell was elected to serve the Haydock ward on St Helens Council following last week’s local elections – but has now resigned after his side hustle was revealed

A Reform UK councillor has resigned just 24 hours after his secret life as an adult film star was unmasked. Stephen Mousdell, who pulled off a win in the Haydock ward on St Helens Council during last week’s local elections, turned in his papers after his X-rated side hustle came to light.

The newly-minted politician was part of Nigel Farage’s new wave that decimated the Labour old guard in the chambers.

But the victory celebrations were cut short when it emerged that by day, he was a community representative and by night, he was performing in explicit videos under the pseudonym ‘Lachlan Taylor UK’.

Despite the revelations, there is no suggestion that Mousdell broke any laws and his party bosses initially stood by their man. However, the heat clearly became too much for the adult performer, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Posting an extensive statement on social media, Mousdell said: “Recently, things have come out with regard to myself and my partner. We have always been transparent about it and not ashamed of what we do.

“We have full time jobs and also have adult professions, in which we abide by all EU and UK laws. We have never broken any laws or put anything into dispute.

“We also follow high standards in which we follow social media community guidelines and also keeping up to date with the ever changing UK online safety act.

“I wish to thank Reform UK and the St Helens Reform Party and leader in regard to the immense support over the last few days. But it is with sincere regret I am resigning as Reform councillor for Haydock ward.

“This is due to the immense pressures from the media, from individuals within the town hall, from certain parties and individuals who were not elected as councillor over a conflict of interest with regards to being a public figure in office and doing the adult profession.”

He added: “I haven’t been in the right mental state as my depression and anxiety has been awful due to this and my relationship with Kev has been severely damaged and it has to be my number one priority.

“He is my soul mate and my rock. I can’t put him through any more pain than I already have as it is completely not fair. I love him for standing by me even when times was getting difficult.”

The adult performer claimed he was told to pack in the side hustle to save his job, but refused to do so, saying: “I am, who I am. I’m proud of what I do.”

Despite his adult page bragging about the size of his private parts and his X profile being littered with hardcore clips, Reform UK bosses initially stood by their man.

A party spokesman said: “What consenting adults do in their private lives is their own business…Cllr Mousdell is an asset to his local community.”

But after Mousdell threw in the towel, the party said: “It’s a sad state of affairs that a media witch hunt has hounded an elected official out of office because of his private life.”
