Brit baggage free Ibiza resort room however left red-faced thanks to 1 main catch
A penny-pinching Brit thought she’d snagged the bargain of her life when she landed an entirely free hotel room in Ibiza, only to find that the walls were made of glass
A Brit who managed to bag a hotel room in Ibiza ended up regretting her frugal stay when she discovered that the walls of her room were made of glass – so nosey guests could watch her sleep.
Taisya Connolly, 30, booked in for a one-night stay in the Zero Suite at Paradiso Art Hotel earlier this month (May 6th), at which holidaymakers can stay in one specific room for free for a night.
There is one tiny catch, however: not only are the four walls all transparent, the room is located in the hotel lobby so passers-by are free to gawp at you while you sleep.
To make matters worse, Taisya said the lights were kept on throughout the night as part of the art installation meaning getting a decent bit of shut-eye was almost impossible.
The content creator said the room also got too hot due to lack of ventilation, and that when she turned on the air-con it caused a racket.
Taisya says she managed to fall asleep at 3am before waking up soon after when guests began returning from nights out, and woke up again when guests arrived for breakfast at 10am.
While Taisya admits in the middle of the night she regretted staying in the room, she said she would recommend the experience to other holidaymakers looking for a free stay.
The concept hotel advertised the ‘Zero Suite’ online with the caption: “How brave are you? Join our Zero Suite project, a glass room located in the lobby where you can stay for free one night. You’re the artist.”
Taisya, from Canterbury, Kent, said: “It’s an art hotel and they basically view you as a piece of art so they have you on show all through the night.
“I was a bit apprehensive because I knew I wouldn’t be getting much sleep. Staying there I didn’t get much sleep because of the lights and people coming in and distracting me.
“I regretted it halfway through the night but I’m glad I did it. It got hot quickly because there wasn’t much ventilation and when you put the air con on there’s a lot of noise.
“Because it’s glass, even people walking past reception, you can hear it. A lot of people would come and knock on the glass to say hi.
“I went to sleep around 3am and woke up around 5.30am from people arriving back from the club and then again at 10am when people were having breakfast.
“If you use the bathroom and leave the door open then you can see into the bathroom.
“I would definitely recommend it. A lot of people come here just for 24 hours so it’s great to have a hotel for free.”
Despite the sleepless night, Taisya said she would stay in the room again and that she felt like she was on Big Brother.
Taisya urges other tourists to be equipped with an eye mask and a laptop as the TV didn’t work, if they are planning on staying in the Zero Suite.
Taisya said: “Definitely take an eye mask, wear some type of pyjamas in case the duvet comes off you in the night. The TV didn’t work so I brought my laptop.
“It is weird to be on display but I really enjoyed it, it’s great for people watching. It feels like you’re in some kind of TV programme like Big Brother or Love Island.
“You actually have to sign a disclaimer to say you know you’ll be constantly watched, it’s a fun hotel.
“I just think it’s cool and I like to make videos to show people to have confidence and that’s why I do it on my own just to not take life too seriously and just have fun. I think I’d do it again.”
