Major police incident on UK avenue as armed officers swarm after locals hear ‘gunshots’

Armed police have swarmed a UK street after locals reported hearing gunshots in the area of Greater Manchester. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon (May 22) and has caused a stretch of Bury New Road in Whitefield to be shut by police.
Images from the scene show armed officers patrolling the scene with a number of Greater Manchester Police vehicles blocking the road. A Tactical Aid Unit (TAU) was also seen within the cordon.
As reported by the Manchester Evening News, neighbours say they heard what sounded like ‘a couple of gunshots’ about an hour and a half ago before an Air Ambulance arrived at the scene. Reports of gunshots are yet to be confirmed by police.
Images from the scene show a car within the cordon with its window smashed. There is also another car that also appears to have been damaged.
GMP have yet to release details in regards to the incident.
