Horror as man dies falling from Manchester metropolis centre lodge as police launch probe

A man has tragically died after plunging to his death from a city centre building yesterday.
Greater Manchester Police rushed to the scene on Charles Street in Manchester at approximately 4pm on Saturday May 23. Tragically, a man who remains formally unidentified was declared dead at the location, reports the Mirror.
Witnesses reported that the Maldron Hotel was cleared shortly before numerous emergency vehicles and forensic specialists arrived at the scene, with a blue forensic tent erected in the road outside the Maldron hotel. Officers are treating the man’s death as unexplained while they continue their investigation.
Armed police were spotted patrolling surrounding streets in the hours following the devastating incident as the force presses on with its inquiry into the tragic fatality.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At around 4pm today (Saturday 23 May 2026), we were called to reports that a man had fallen from a building on Charles Street in the city centre.”
“Sadly, a deceased man was found at the scene. Enquiries to establish the full circumstances surrounding his death, which is unexplained, are currently ongoing.”
Police have released no additional details.
