Liverpool ‘in talks’ for brand spanking new wonderkid with only a £10m launch clause
Liverpool are reportedly in concrete talks to sign Hertha Berlin’s 16-year-old defensive midfielder Kennet Eichhorn, who has been compared to Toni Kroos, with a release clause of between £7.4m and £10m available, according to Sky Germany.
Liverpool seem to be stepping up their transfer activity, with the Reds reportedly entering the race for Hertha Berlin prodigy Kennet Eichhorn. A crucial summer lies ahead for Liverpool after wrapping up their underwhelming campaign on Sunday. While Champions League qualification was eventually achieved, there’s no denying the reconstruction job facing Arne Slot.
The Reds already have one fresh arrival confirmed, with Jeremy Jacquet completing his move from Rennes, while 18 year old Ifeanyi Ndukwe is anticipated to link up with the club’s academy from Austria Wien, and efforts to land another youthful gem appear to be advancing.
Sky Germany report that Liverpool have entered the hunt to sign Eichhorn. The club is understood to have already held concrete discussions with the 16-year-old, who is building a name as one of Germany’s most sought-after prospects.
Eichhorn has featured in 19 first-team matches for Hertha this season, but is allegedly already plotting his exit from the club this summer. A release clause worth between £7.4m and £10m is present in his deal, which could streamline proceedings for Liverpool.
The Reds are hardly the sole club expressing interest, however. Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Eintracht Frankfurt have all shown keen interest in Germany, while Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, and Manchester United have also been linked, among others, reports the Express.
A holding midfielder by nature, Eichhorn has been likened to Toni Kroos for his style of play. He has turned out for Germany at U15, U16 and U17 levels, skippering his nation in all four outings for the latter age group.
Eichhorn could mirror not only Jacquet and Ndukwe in making the move to Liverpool this summer, but also Samuel Martinez.
The Reds are understood to be nearing a deal for the 17 year old attacking midfielder, who currently turns out for Atletico Nacional in his homeland Colombia. Martinez is anticipated to join Liverpool’s academy setup should the transfer go through.
