Woman tried to terminate member of the family’s being pregnant with drug laced lasagna

A 36-year-old woman has been thrown behind bars after she attempted to kill pregnant mother’s unborn baby with drug laced lasagna and induce a miscarriage

A woman who attempted to use a drug laced lasagna to terminate a family member’s pregnancy has learned her faith.

Amber Snow, 36, has been jailed for 10 years after she handed a family member the spiked dish. Snow, from Iowa, was arrested on March 10 after authorities were alerted to the laced food, the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office have stated.

Her alleged co-conspirator, later identified as Matthew Uthoff, was arrested on March 26. They were both held on $100,000 cash bonds. During her trial Snow pleaded guilty to four counts of conspiracy to commit non-forcible felony, attempted non-consensual termination of pregnancy, child endangerment and a controlled substance violation.

The “family size pan of ” tested positive for oxycodone, an opioid painkiller pain killer, the police confirmed. A statement from the Sheriff’s office said the pair “intended to cause a miscarriage to a pregnancy of a woman in the family that received the lasagna.”

Police confirmed the baby and the woman who was handed the spiked food are safe. However, police have not clarified if the woman ingested the food. Uthoff, Snow’s alleged co-conspirator, is currently awaiting trial.

The man has been charged with delivering a controlled substance, child endangerment and intentionally terminating a human pregnancy without the knowledge and voluntary consent of the pregnant person. He was also charged with two counts each of administering a harmful substance to an adult and administering a harmful substance to a juvenile, according to court documents. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The development follows a case in Brazil where a teenager reportedly confessed to putting a deadly poison into lunch boxes for her mum, dad, and cousin after her parents stopped her seeing her boyfriend.

Police are now holding the girl, who they believe acted because her family “was disapproving of her romantic relationship”.

Major Renato Geraldo da Silva, a spokesperson for the Military Police stated: “She then took the three meals prepared every night by the mother for herself, the father and the cousin, and added a toxic substance intended to kill rodents.”
