Disgraced Andrew Windsor going through whole freeze-out as 24,000ft tribute may very well be wiped from map

Disgraced Andrew Windsor faces a total freeze-out as New Zealand considers stripping his name from a 24,000ft Antarctic plateau amid his ongoing public downfall

Disgraced Andrew Mountbatten Windsor could see his dwindling royal legacy take another blow as a towering Antarctic tribute looks set to be scrubbed from history. The Prince Andrew Plateau, a massive 24,278ft icy landmark named in his honour back in 1962, could soon have its title changed by New Zealand’s Geographic Board.

Questions are mounting over whether the shamed former Duke of York deserves to keep his freezing claim to fame, according to Kiwi radio network Newstalk ZB. The high-altitude plateau sits deep within Antarctica’s Queen Elizabeth Range.

The area features several geographic markers dedicated to the late Queen’s children, including nearby glaciers named after Princess Anne and King Charles III, making Andrew’s enduring presence on the map look increasingly awkward.

Official documents released under New Zealand’s Official Information Act reveal that the issue was sparked by a complaint from a member of the public.

Following the tip-off, an official with Land Information New Zealand reached out to government agencies to figure out if they would need to ask Buckingham Palace before giving Andrew the ultimate Antarctic boot.

While a large portion of the official correspondence has been heavily redacted, insiders noted that royal names usually require a green light from Buckingham Palace.

One idea floated behind closed doors was to swap Andrew’s name for a different member of the Royal Family, but the proposal was quickly shot down.

Instead, the Antarctic Naming Committee has been urged to either come up with a completely fresh title or simply strip the name away and leave the plateau nameless.

No definitive ruling has been handed down yet, with the board expected to look at the icy dilemma again later this year.

The humiliating map-scrubbing is just the latest blow for Andrew following his catastrophic public downfall over his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

King Charles stripped his brother of his remaining royal titles last year and he was arrested and subsequently released in February over allegations of misconduct in public office. Andrew continues to deny any wrongdoing.
