Keep it casual
My girlfriend searches the Internet for casual sex.
She loves to be admired and flattered. She gets off on exerting power over grateful (horny) men.
A couple of weeks ago I caught her putting on a sex show for a stranger. I called her disgusting.
She confessed that she often plays up behind my back because it gives her a thrill and makes her feel powerful and appreciated.
I explained how much this slutty behaviour upsets me and she promised never to do it again.
But just the other night I walked into our bedroom and caught her online again. She was stark naked and performing with a sex toy for a geek in Germany. I hit the roof and she stormed off calling me uptight. Now she’s saying with her sister and getting up to all sorts of tricks. She’s trawling for guys; going out on dates and bonking her way around town.
Her sister tells me that she often brings strange men back to the flat they’re sharing as she can hear them having noisy sex.
Apparently, the other night she had TWO men up in her room – two mates. They were indulging in some kind of drinking and bondage games. My girl (I can’t stop calling her that) was screaming and laughing like a wild woman. In the end her sister had to go round to her boyfriend’s for the night, because she couldn’t stand the commotion. I can’t believe that my girl has sunk to these levels.
Her response to me is that I’m free to have any kind of sex I like; she won’t criticise or judge me if we do get back together again. But I don’t want that, I just want her back in one piece. Is that too much to ask for?
JANE SAYS: Your on/off girlfriend is currently running wild.
She’s meeting men for sex, she’s taking enormous risks and she’s pushing back the boundaries. Even if she does decide that you’re ‘the one’ will you ever be able to forgive and forget?
Will you be able to push the image of her – with two males out of your mind – any time she suggests making love? Will you be able to trust her not to have on-line sex again? My feeling is that too much has happened for you to go back to what you had before.
When you first met you fell deeply in love. But she’s a very different person now and you’re already angry, jealous and annoyed. For your own sake, I think you should try and let her go. Think of yourself; your wellbeing and your dignity. She isn’t the only woman in the world and she doesn’t define you.
Find the courage to tell her ‘enough’ and move on. If Internet dating isn’t for you, then ask friends to introduce you to potential partners. But only do so when you’re ready. My worry is that there must have been something seriously missing from your relationship for her to behave in the outrageous way she did.
Greasy habits
I’m worried about the amount of processed foods my boyfriend consumes. He scoffs junk while gaming and is hooked on greasy, (pricey) home deliveries.
What can I say when he looks terrible but has never acknowledged that he has a problem?
JANE SAYS: If your guy’s unhealthy habits have become the elephant in the room, then you’ve got to address this issue for his sake and for yours.
Tell him that you love him and are worried about him. Why don’t you say that you’re planning to take up some gentle exercise; start eating healthily and get fit.
Ask him if he fancies joining you. If he tells you ‘no’, then maybe you’ll have to accept that he’s his own person. Can you respect that?
