Australia netball star Sophie Garbin has hit back at complaints that the team kit is ‘inappropriate’ as her team run the risk of a major wardrobe malfunction.
The Aussies arrived in Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games looking to defend their crown and produced a brilliant 66-47 win over England on Sunday to put them top of Pool A, following on from a dominant 99-38 opening win against Tonga.
Garbin, 29, was the spearhead of the Diamonds’ play as she scored 41 goals from 42 attempts against England. And she managed to do so despite appearing to have some problems with the tight team dress.

Members of the Aussie squad were forced to pull their dresses down to avoid an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction and protect their modesty.
The outfits have come under scrutiny from fans who have criticised the cut and appropriate nature of the kit.
However, Garbin defended the kit and insisted her team-mates have no issue with the strip, she said: “I feel like, as a netballer, I’m always tugging my dress down.

“Obviously we’ve noticed lots of the comments from other people, but on the court we’re used to dresses coming up and down.
“I don’t think it’s affecting our performance, so it’s OK. I feel like we might have a look at what we can do in the next couple of days, but we love our dress.
“We love what Valour have done with the pattern and the fabric and everything, so we’re really proud to wear it.”
Australia’s netball team appeared to have problems with their kit
Viewers had made their feelings clear on social media, but thankfully the team don’t agree with them, with the players the only people who matter in this situation.
One user said: “The cut of these Australian dresses is terrible. They keep riding up as soon as the players move.”
A second slammed: “Any athlete deserves to be wearing appropriate and comfortable clothing. This clearly isn’t the case.”
While a third moaned: “I can’t imagine it’s easy to focus on playing a game when you know you have your lower half on display every time you take a step.”
Australia are next in action against Malawi later on Tuesday as their Commonwealth Games crown defence continues to ramp up.
