Mo Salah’s profession in footage as Liverpool icon joins newest membership after Anfield exit

Mohamed Salah’s future has been resolved with the former Liverpool star jetting to Turkey where he has signed for Trabzonspor.

In a statement, the Turkish Super Lig club said: “Negotiations have been launched ⁠to transfer professional footballer ⁠Mohamed Salah, who is in a free status, to our club.’ And chairman Ertugrul Dogan added Salah is expected to arrive ⁠in Istanbul for a medical on Wednesday.

It looks set to be the latest move in a storied career for Salah that saw him start in his Egypt for Al-Mokawloon, where he spent two seasons before moving to Swiss giants Basel in 2012.

It was in the shadows of the Alps that Salah started to really make a name for himself, thrilling fans in the Champions League as he netted the winner against Chelsea.

His performance caught the eye of the Blues, and that January he put pen-to-paper on a deal at Stamford Bridge. However, Salah ultimately struggled to break into the fold at the Blues under Jose Mourinho.

And he was shipped out on a series of loans to try and get some game time under his belt – with his first loan seeing him start to pick up some form at Fiorentina.

The famous old Italian club was keen to gain his services on a permanent basis – but, instead, he would move to Roma, where he would make his stay permanent.

However, he was soon back in England, when Liverpool came calling in 2017. Salah has become an icon at Anfield, scoring an astonishing 255 goals in 435 appearances in all competitions winning two Premier League titles and the Champions League.

In the 2024-25 season Salah scored 29 Premier League goals and provided 18 assists, equalling the league record for most goal involvements in a season and setting the record for a 38-game campaign.

Excitement is already growing in Turkey for Salah’s arrival: “The player is scheduled to arrive in Trabzon on the same day in the evening hours,” a statement read.

“The time and other details regarding the welcome program in Trabzon will be shared with the public through our club’s official communication channels during the day.”

Trabzonspor – considered to be the fourth-biggest team in Turkey after Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, and ‌Besiktas – already boast Andre Onana, Stefan Savic and John Lundstram.
