Meghan Markle’s dad Thomas ‘damage and upset’ over UK transfer as he points plea
Thomas Markle has said he is ‘hurt and upset’ over Harry and Meghan’s UK move and fears he may never meet grandchildren Archie and Lilibet once they leave the US
Thomas Markle has expressed his hurt and disappointment over Prince Harry and Meghan’s impending return to the UK, fearing he may never get to meet his grandchildren.
Meghan’s estranged father claims he was kept in the dark about the move and only found out through the news. He has yet to meet his seven year old grandson Archie and five year old granddaughter Lilibet.
Harry and Meghan are set to return to the United Kingdom after years of residing in the United States, a decision that has dominated headlines and sparked widespread speculation.
Now, Thomas Markle has voiced his reaction to the news and his disappointment in his former ‘daddy’s girl’ Meghan.
Mr Markle revealed to The Mail on Sunday: “I saw on CNN that they were returning to England. I found out about it at the same time as the rest of the world.”, reports the Express.
“I’m hurt and upset that she doesn’t give a damn about me, even though I’m in hospital.’ He added: ‘Meghan used to love me, she was always a daddy’s girl, and now it’s like I don’t exist.
“I have never met my grandchildren, and now they are leaving America.
“One day those kids will ask about their ‘other’ grandfather – the one who isn’t King – the one that Meghan and Harry are apparently ashamed of.
“I hope they know how much I wanted to meet them.”
His relationship with Meghan soured after he staged paparazzi photos ahead of her 2018 wedding. She has not spoken to him since then.
Discussing his relationship with his daughter, Thomas stated: “I will never stop loving my daughter but I will never understand why she turned her back on me.”
Speculation has been rampant about where Harry and Meghan might decide to put down roots, with potential spots including idyllic locations in the Cotswolds.
Archie and Lili are anticipated to begin their new schools in early September and it’s understood that there won’t be any publicised photographs of the children when they start or on their birthdays, unlike for working royals.
