Moment Bondi Beach gunmen seen ‘coaching’ in chilling CCTV footage and video manifesto
Chilling new images show the Bondi Beach gunmen loading their car with weapons just hours before their ISIS-inspired massacre, as chilling CCTV shows Sajid Akram and son Naveed in action
New pictures of the Bondi Beach gunmen have been released – including chilling CCTV footage that has emerged showing what Sajid Akram and his son Naveed were doing just hours before their deadly attack.
The Bondi Beach attackers were shown to be loading their vehicle with weapons just hours before the horrific shooting that claimed 15 lives in Australia, shocking new images reveal. According to Australian police, the pair “meticulously planned” the massacre for months and were driven by a “violent extremist ideology” tied to ISIS.
Authorities say videos recovered from Naveed’s phone reveal the two were radicalised by extreme Islamist beliefs.
Police documents reportedly state the duo recorded a video manifesto in October, sitting in front of an IS group flag. Another clip allegedly shows them with an ISIS flag, outlining their motivation for the attack and condemning “the acts of ‘Zionists’”.
Police also claim Naveed recites a passage from the Quran in Arabic in the same video, The Sun reported. CCTV footage reportedly captured the 50-year-old terrorist and his 24-year-old son doing a preparatory visit to Bondi Beach at night just days before the shooting.
Surveillance reportedly shows them walking along the footbridge they would later use to launch the attack. Investigators believe the pair rented a room in a shared house shortly before the massacre.
On the morning of the attack, they were seen loading “long and bulky items wrapped in blankets” into their car, items police say included three firearms, four homemade bombs, and two IS flags. Hours later, the father and son drove to Bondi and carried out the assault.
Authorities further allege the pair underwent “firearms training” in what is believed to be the New South Wales countryside. Court evidence reportedly includes photos of the Akrams firing long-barrelled guns in a field.
Police stated: “The Accused and his father are seen throughout the video firing shotguns and moving in a tactical manner.” During the attack, Sajid was shot dead by police.
Originally from India, Sajid moved to Australia in 1998 on a visa. His son Naveed, a 24-year-old unemployed bricklayer, was wounded and taken to hospital under police guard, later regaining consciousness after three days.
Naveed, an Australian citizen, now faces charges of terrorism, 15 counts of murder, and 40 counts of grievous bodily harm with intent to murder, as well as displaying a symbol of a prohibited terrorist organisation after two IS flags were found in the car.
What happened at the Bondi Beach attack?
On December 14, a deadly terrorist shooting occurred at Bondi Beach, Sydney, targeting a Jewish community event celebrating the first night of Hanukkah.
At approximately 6:47 pm, Sajid Akram and his son Naveed allegedly opened fire from a footbridge overlooking Archer Park on Campbell Parade, where about 1,000 people were gathered for the “Chanukah by the Sea” celebration.
Before shooting, the attackers threw four improvised explosive devices (IEDs)—including three pipe bombs and a “tennis ball bomb”, into the crowd, though none detonated.
Tragically, 15 people were killed – including a 10-year-old girl, two rabbis, and an 87-year-old Holocaust survivor.
Approximately 40 others were injured, including two police officers.
