The REAL purpose for one of many fieriest clashes of Shane Warne’s profession is revealed for the primary time

  • Altercation occurred in BBL02

Popular TV presenter and former Melbourne Stars drink carrier Andy Lee has exposed remarkable details about one of Aussie cricket legend Shane Warne‘s biggest blow-ups.

Lee has revealed all about Warne’s shocking tirade, which was aimed at rival player Marlon Samuels in the 2012/13 Big Bash season.

During the Melbourne Stars’ batting innings in their match versus the Melbourne Renegades, Samuels caused a stir by holding the shirt of David Hussey as he was about to attempt a second run.

It seemed to be a lighthearted gesture at the time, but Hussey and his Stars teammates thought otherwise.

When Warne began bowling, he gave Samuels an almighty spray, saying ‘f**k you, Marlon’ several times.

The cricket legend then began poking the West Indies batsman in the chest and waving a finger in his face.

While the altercation looked like a spur-of-the-moment reaction by Warne, Lee has explained that it was a premeditated act carried out to unsettle his opponents.

‘Warnie goes… “the game is drifting, and we’re gonna lose this if we let it drift”,’ Lee said on The Melbourne Stars Podcast.

‘(Then) he goes, “I’m gonna have to do something, I’m going to have to shake this up”.

‘Warnie’s obviously brilliant with ball in hand, but also could read the game better than most.

‘If you’re not winning in the traditional way, how can we get a psychological edge?’

Umpires stepped in to separate the pair, but it wasn’t long before they were at each other’s throats again.

Warne fielded a ball and threw it straight at Samuels, hitting him on the torso.

The Renegades batter reacted by tossing his bat in Warne’s direction.

Matters had barely settled down before Samuels’ eventful innings came to a dramatic end.

He ended up having his eye socket fractured after being struck in the face by a bouncer from Sri Lankan bowler Lasith Malinga, who put the ball between the lid of the helmet and the grille.

Warne was a part of the squad for the Melbourne Stars’ first-ever BBL season.

He was fined $4500 and banned for one match over the Samuels clash for using obscene language and making inappropriate contact with a player.
