Boozers baffled after snowman stolen from outdoors pub as homeowners comb CCTV

Dramatic CCTV footage showed someone taking Sammy the Snowman from The Potter pub in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent as the pub made a humorous plea for the snowman’s return

This was the incredible moment a snowman was pinched from outside a pub. CCTV footage released by The Potter in Stoke-on-Trent captures a bloke nabbing the frosty figure — named Sammy the Snowman — from the wall.

The clip reveals a group strolling along the opposite side of King Street before one chap clocks the snowman. He then appears to make a dash for the pub before grabbing the snowman from its perch and legging it.

In a tongue-in-cheek message to the ‘snowman thief’ on social media, The Potter quipped: “We hope you enjoyed stealing a snowman. Bold move, really.

“Just so you know — we’ve got CCTV. Yes, it works; yes, we’ve watched it; yes, we’ve laughed,” Stoke on Trent Live reported.

The owners continued to have some fun with the appeal for return of the missing Christmas decoration, joking: “He was minding his own business, spreading joy, not auditioning for Gone in 60 Seconds: Frostbite Edition. Return him quietly. No names. No shame.

“Or don’t… and enjoy being forever known as ‘the Person Who Nicked a Snowman’. Your move.”

Whether the snowman bandit has stepped forward remains unclear, but plenty of punters were swift to react to the post. One quipped: “He’s only having an Olaf.”

Another chimed in: “Loads of people would have gotten cold feet, he probably just took frosty for a Brrr-ito.” And a third joked: “They’re that stupid they’ll probably try and sell him on Marketplace.”

This is not the first time that Christmas decorations have been stolen in plain sight, after a family in Texas had their entire set of festive decorations stolen by thieves. After having revealed their hard work, it was left completely ruined by people who appeared to be in a rather grinchy mood.

Uploading photos of the aftermath of their robbery, their once pristine lawn was left strewn with candy canes thrown around the garden, with their gifts hidden under their tree completely stolen.

The original post soon gained a slew of traction from users sharing their shock and concern, with the distraught homeowner admitting they had reported the incident to the police and were now having it investigated. They added: “Report was filed, police are gonna follow up with the neighbours across and next to us that have cameras for their footage.”
