Minneapolis ICE capturing dwell updates: New footage from agent’s telephone reveals interplay that led to girl being fatally shot
Newly shared cell phone footage shows the moments just before ICE agent Jonathan Ross opened fire and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, from his perspective.
The footage from Ross’ phone, obtained by Alpha News, seemingly shows him getting out of his own vehicle and circling Good’s car while being heckled by another protester. He also interacts briefly with Good, who tells him “that’s fine dude, I’m not mad.”
Ross approaches the front of Good’s vehicle before the footage cuts away as he draws his gun and fires three times into the vehicle. An officer is heard on the video exclaiming “f****** b****,” as the car drives away.
Meanwhile, Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey defended his own use of expletives in the aftermath of the shooting, telling reporters Friday: “I dropped an F-bomb… They killed somebody. Which one of those is more inflammatory?”
The mayor also disputed claims by the Trump administration, including vice president JD Vance, that Ross, had been injured during the altercation.
“The ICE agent walked away with a hip injury that he might as well have gotten from closing a refrigerator door with his hips. He was not injured,” Frey said. “I’ve seen worse injuries from doing that, so give me a break.”
Rennee Nicole Good’s wife says ‘peace and safe harbor’ have been ‘taken forever’
Becca Good said in a statement that the “peace and safe harbor” she and her wife had found in Minneapolis had been “taken from me forever” following Wednesday’s shooting.
“Like people have done across place and time, we moved to make a better life for ourselves. We chose Minnesota to make our home. Our whole extended road trip here, we held hands in the car while our son drew all over the windows to pass the time and the miles,” she said in a statement Friday.
“What we found when we got here was a vibrant and welcoming community, we made friends and spread joy. And while any place we were together was home, there was a strong shared sense here in Minneapolis that we were looking out for each other.
“Here, I had finally found peace and safe harbor. That has been taken from me forever.”
She added: “We were raising our son to believe that no matter where you come from or what you look like, all of us deserve compassion and kindness. Renee lived this belief every day.
“She is pure love. She is pure joy. She is pure sunshine.”
ICE shooting victim and wife had ‘stopped to support neighbors’
In her statement, Becca Good said she and her wife had “stopped to support our neighbors” on January 7, before the tragic incident took place.
“We had whistles. They had guns,” she wrote.
Renee Nicole Good’s wife says she was ‘made of sunshine’
In her first public statement since Wednesday’s shooting, Renee Nicole Good’s wife, Becca Good, described her as being “made of sunshine.”
“This kindness of strangers is the most fitting tribute because if you ever encountered my wife, Renee Nicole Macklin Good, you know that above all else, she was kind. In fact, kindness radiated out of her,” Becca Good said in the statement, shared through Minnesota Public Radio.
“Renee sparkled. She literally sparkled. I mean, she didn’t wear glitter but I swear she had sparkles coming out of her pores. All the time. You might think it was just my love talking but her family said the same thing. Renee was made of sunshine.”
She added: “Renee lived by an overarching belief: there is kindness in the world and we need to do everything we can to find it where it resides and nurture it where it needs to grow.
“Renee was a Christian who knew that all religions teach the same essential truth: we are here to love each other, care for each other, and keep each other safe and whole.”
Fundraiser for Renee Good’s family passes $1 million after she was shot dead by ICE agent
An online fundraiser for the family of Renee Nicole Good, the woman shot dead by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, has already flown past its $50,000 goal and is approaching $1.5 million.
Good, a mother-of-three and poet, was killed Wednesday following a confrontation with federal immigrant officers on a residential street that prompted one of the men, since identified as one Jonathan Ross, to fire three shots at her through the window of her Honda Pilot.

County DA asks public to send footage of shooting directly to her office
Hennepin County District Attorney Mary Moriarty has asked the public to submit any video and other Renee Good shooting evidence directly to her office, after local authorities have been shut out of investigations by the feds.
“After the FBI rescinded its cooperation agreement with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, our office immediately began exploring all options to ensure a state level investigation can continue,” Moriarty said in a statement Friday.
“If the FBI is the sole investigative agency, the State will not receive the investigative findings, and our community may never learn about its contents.
“We are speaking to our local partners on paths forward that will allow us to review the investigation and be transparent in our decision making.”
ICYMI: ICE agent involved in shooting previously dragged by car
Jonathan Ross, the ICE agent who fatally shot a 37-year-old mom-of-three in Minneapolis Wednesday, was dragged and injured by a fleeing driver in a separate incident last year, The Minnesota Star Tribune reported.
Ross was previously dragged by a fleeing suspect during the arrest of Roberto Carlos Munoz-Guatemala, a Mexican citizen, in Bloomington, Minnesota, in June 2025.
Munoz-Guatemala, who had previously been convicted of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and was on a detainer, ignored ICE agents’ commands, prompting Ross to break open a window of his car and try to unlock the door.
Munoz-Guatemala then accelerated, dragging Ross roughly 300 feet before he was “knocked” from the car. As a result of the incident, Ross needed 20 stitches on his arm and 13 more on his hand, according to court documents seen by the Tribune.
Munoz-Guatemala was later convicted of assaulting an officer.

Mike Johnson says ‘full investigation’ needs to take place into Minneapolis shooting
House Speaker Mike Johnson said a “full investigation” into Wednesday’s shooting needs to take place, but unlike other members of the Trump administration stopped short of overtly defending the actions of ICE agent Jonathan Ross.
“I think people have made their observations known about the video. There’s multiple angles of the video,” Johnson told CNN Friday.
“Everybody’s commented on that in the media and on social media and even elected officials, but we all understand there has to be a full investigation…He made a snap judgment, as they do.
“He had been dragged behind a vehicle already, we now know this particular officer, and he felt that his life and the life of his fellow officers and potentially bystanders, which is it was in danger.
“And so we’ll have to see. We’ll let the justice system weigh in.”
