Tiktok fool busted after lobbing KFC wraps to lags over ‘superprison’ fence
Toby Blair, 28, was filmed throwing KFC wraps over a prison fence at HMP Five Wells for a TikTok prank, and narrowly avoided being sent to jail himself after pleading guilty
A TikTok creator who filmed himself lobbing KFC wraps to inmates over a prison fence has narrowly dodged a stint behind bars himself.
Toby Blair, 28, carried out the social media prank at the £253m “super-prison” HMP Five Wells in Northamptonshire. A court heard how he and two mates were spotted chucking parcels over the wall around 4.20pm on 13 January.
Inside the packages, officers discovered five KFC chicken wraps, eight Rizla tips and four mini bottles of vodka. Mechanic Blair was arrested and brought before Northampton Magistrates’ Court on Friday, January 30. When asked by the clerk if his name was Toby Blair, he responded: “Unfortunately yes”.
He admitted to throwing a prohibited article into prison and hurling an item into a prison without authorisation. Magistrates warned Blair that his TikTok stunt “could have ruined the rest of his life” and that the offence crossed the custody threshold.
However, considering the time elapsed since the offence and his efforts towards rehabilitation, they suspended his six-week prison sentence for 12 months. He’s also been ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and cough up a £154 surcharge and £85 costs.
Defending Blair, Amos Kangethe stated that Blair, from Bridgewater, Somerset, had no prior convictions and hadn’t been in trouble since.
He added: “During that time there was usage of Class-A drugs. He’s just had surgery on his nose and he’s about to have another surgery to rectify the damage caused by using drugs.”
He revealed that his client was once splashing out up to £500 daily on cocaine.
He added: “Since then he’s changed his life. At that time he was sofa surfing. He now has suitable accommodation and is no longer using drugs.
“He’s now got a job as a mechanic starting next week. He’s on track to be an upstanding member of the public.”
