Police were called after violence erupted during an FA Vase match
Police are investigating following a massive brawl at a non-league football match.
Videos have surfaced on social media showing players, coaching staff and fans embroiled in violent scenes during the FA Vase tie between Bilston Town and Droylsden FC. One clip shows a player throwing punches at spectators while a woman attempts to restrain him.
Another video captures what seems to be a coach being pursued across the pitch before striking a non-player, who then falls to the ground. The incident took place at the end of the match, which Droylsden won 2-0 to reach the quarter-finals of the competition.
West Midlands Police released a statement saying: “We’re investigating after a violent disorder at Bilston Town Football Club on Queen Street yesterday.

“We were alerted to reports of people being assaulted around 5pm. No arrests have yet been made.
“We are striving to establish the full facts and will be reaching out to the victims to obtain comprehensive statements, as well as reviewing mobile phone and CCTV footage. Anyone with information is urged to contact us on 101, quoting 20/139817/26.”
Bilston issued a statement regarding the incident, confirming that an investigation had been launched in collaboration with Droylsden. They said: “We understand that there is a video or videos shared by people from the game today.
“We would like to state that this is not a fair reflection of the game or day as a whole. As a club we are in the process of investigating all footage from today’s game.
“We would like to thank the supporters of @Droylsden_FC for their cooperation. “
Droylsden did not mention the incident immediately after the match and expressed gratitude to Bilston for their hospitality. They posted on X: “THANK YOU!
“Many thanks to @BilstonTownFC for their hospitality, and all the best for the rest of the season.
“To all you Bloods who made the trip down, THANK YOU for your tremendous support, and safe journeys home!”
Bilston, based near Wolverhampton, compete in the Midland League Division One, while Droylsden play in the North West Counties League Division One North. Both clubs have been contacted for comment.
