Skier dies after tragic fall whereas on 4,000ft mountain near Ben Nevis
A skier has tragically died in a suspected horror fall on a 4,000ft UK mountain up in the Highlands of Scotland earlier this week.
The man, believed to be in his 60s, was reportedly out skiing on Aonach Mor, which is close to Ben Nevis in the Nevis Range near Torlundy.
Police Scotland say the man suffered serious injuries when he fell at around 2pm on Tuesday (February 17). He was taken to hospital by emergency services but sadly passed away a day later.
Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident. They also did not confirm if the man was a local or tourist to the area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2pm on Tuesday, 17 February, 2026, we received a report of a man injured in the Nevis Range area near Torlundy.
“Emergency services attended, and the man was taken to hospital where he later died on Wednesday, 18 February, 2026.
“There are no suspicious circumstances, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
