Sarah Ferguson could possibly be probed by police Andrew’s bombshell arrest, professional says
The disgraced former Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, may be ‘a relevant witness’ to Andrew Mountbatten Windsor’s case and so could be questioned by the Thames Valley Police
The former Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson could be called in for questioning over her ex-husband’s arrest, legal British sources suggest.
The former prince, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office on Thursday (February 19) on his 66th birthday. Cops swooped following allegations made against him after the release of files related to the late paedophile Jeffery Epstein.
Disgraced Ferguson, who was stripped of her title due to her relationship with the discharged financier, is understood to be in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) following her eviction from her Royal Lodge home, which she shared with Andrew for more than three decades.
If the 66-year-old returns to the UK however, the Thames Valley Police could bring her in for questioning. There is no evidence of any criminal wrongdoing by Ferguson.
However a top British lawyer told Page Six that “the police may have a basis for questioning Sarah Ferguson” as “she may be a relevant witness in this case”. The barrister added: “They may want to ask her some questions.
“While Sarah Ferguson would not have been in a public office at that time, I don’t know what she knows, and if she has disclosed anything (in emails consistent with her role as an ex-royal and Andrew’s ex-wife).” The source went on to say, that the decision to bring Ferguson in for questioning is “up to police” because “as part of this investigation, they can call on whoever they want”.
It’s thought Ferguson fled the UK to avoid the spotlight as the fallout from the release of the Epstein files continues. The former royal was las spotted at her granddaughter’s christening at St James’ Palace on December 12.
The Daily Mail reported that speculation over where Sarah had gone to has ended after she was seen sheltering at a Swiss wellness retreat.
Sources within the centre said that she has been held up there for over a month, paying a whopping £13,000 a day for the pleasure.
“Sarah left for Zurich just after Christmas, and stayed until the end of January,” the insider at the Paracelsus Recovery Clinic said.
“She always feels at home at Paracelsus, and knows she’ll get love and attention there, as well as expert health treatment when she’s feeling at her most vulnerable.”
It’s thought she then spent a few days on a skiing holiday with pals in the French Alps, before arriving in the Middle East.
