Renowned sculptress admits to killing Falklands hero, 63, by careless driving when she knocked him off his bike along with her Land Rover

A former SAS soldier was killed when he was hit off his motorbike by a sculptress in her Land Rover.

Successful artist Christine Baxter, 63, was behind the wheel when she collided with Falklands War veteran Darren Gough, also 63.

Ex-special forces soldier Darren, known as Ben, was taken to hospital in a critical condition but died from his injuries several weeks later.

He was a member of Third Battalion Parachute Regiment and 22 Special Air Service and described by comrades as an ‘airborne warrior’ and an ‘absolute legend’.

Baxter admitted causing death by careless driving in her Land Rover Freelander.

Baxter’s works were exhibited at a series of garden shows across the last year including the National Motor Museum.

Her sculptures are displayed at several independent galleries at cities including Bristol, Cardiff and Salisbury.

She sells garden sculptures, often made of iron, bronze or stone, on Etsy for prices of up to £1,000 and displays work at her home studio.
