Travel agency collapse leaves Brit households with no refunds as ATOL warning issued
Regen Central Ltd has entered liquidation and all bookings made through the company have been cancelled with no refunds available
Every reservation made through a well-known British tour operator has been scrapped following its collapse into administration. Regen Central Ltd, a Hertfordshire-based holiday firm, sold travel packages to Europe and Southeast Asia.
The company went into liquidation on January 13 after forfeiting its Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing (ATOL). ATOL, a programme overseen by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), offers financial security for package holidays or flights purchased through licenced travel agents, ensuring compensation or emergency transport home should a firm go bust.
However, some reservations remain outside ATOL coverage, including accommodation-only and non-flight packages, meaning impacted travellers lack equivalent protection.
The CAA said: “We understand the company had no outstanding ATOL-protected bookings. Bookings sold as accommodation only, non-flight packages and flight only bookings for which tickets were issued are not protected by the ATOL scheme. As there are no outstanding ATOL-protected bookings, no refunds will be issued.
“If you believe you are owed a refund for an ATOL-protected booking, under Regen Central Ltd’s ATOL, please contact us via email at [email protected].”
Regen Central Ltd launched in 2011 and provided packages to Italy, Bali and Thailand, alongside Middle East locations including Dubai and Saudi Arabia.
The firm formerly operated under the trading names One Haji and Umrah, Regen Travels and Oneworld Travels.
Meanwhile, holiday packages booked through Simply Florida Travel Ltd were also cancelled after the company stopped trading earlier this year.
The Glasgow-based firm provided holiday packages to destinations such as Disneyland, Disney World, Universal Studios, New York City, Toronto, Niagara Falls and Miami, in addition to cruise packages.
Records from Companies House reveal that the independent operator applied to be struck off the register on October 13 last year.
It was officially dissolved on January 6 and ceased trading as an ATOL-protected provider on January 20.
Several other UK travel firms have gone under in recent months, including Gold Crest Holidays, Great Little Escapes, Jetline Travel and Asiara UK Ltd.
