Popstars Liberty X be a part of Lidl for star-studded No1 remake
Popstars Liberty X have recreated their iconic Just A Little video for supermarket giant Lidl with a raft of special guests
Popstars Liberty X have landed a new job with Lidl after recreating their biggest hit for the supermarket giant.
The band – who were put together on ITV talent show Popstars – have remade their iconic PVC clad video to the 2002 chart-topper – canes and all – with some special celebrity guests getting involved. It’s all part of the launch for Lidl Plus Points – a brand new way for shoppers to save even more on their weekly essentials and middle aisle finds
Instead of Just A Little the pop earworm is now re-christened Just a Lidl with a cameo-packed video including the likes of Louie Spence and Judi Love. The band can also be seen taking to the aisles to pull off the ultimate heist – cane in hand – meanwhile highlighting the savings Lidl Plus users can secure with the new feature.
Liberty X were formed in 2001 from the five finalists who failed to make it into the winning band (Hear’Say) on the ITV show Popstars.
Originally named “Liberty,” the group consists of Michelle Heaton, Tony Lundon, Kevin Simm, Jessica Taylor, and Kelli Young. They are best known for their 2002 hit single Just a Little and enjoyed ten consecutive Top 20 hits.
Since 2017 it’s just the trio of Michelle, Jessica and Kelli fronting the group so dance master louie Spence fills in the gaps in the vid.
Michelle Heaton has mentioned that although she misses the boys (Kevin Simm and Tony Lundon), the girls have “stuck around” and were welcomed by fans, allowing them to keep going.
The full original lineup has reunited for one-off occasions—such as in 2016 for Birmingham Pride and teasing appearances around 2024—the primary, consistent touring lineup is the female trio.
Lidl has announced the launch of Lidl Plus Points – a brand-new rewards system based on customer feedback which is designed to give shoppers the freedom to choose how they spend their points, from free or discounted products, to money off vouchers to spend in-store.
Kevin Simm, formerly of the band, now fronts Wet Wet Wet as Marti Pellow’s replacement and tours Europe regularly with Scottish band.
Lidl Plus Points will be available to collect and redeem via the Lidl Plus app from 5th May, with double points available to collect on all fruit items between the 5th and 22nd May.
