Bride slams groom to flooring in marriage ceremony wrestling match as loser will get chore obligation for all times
A Chinese couple settled their chore duties for life with a wild wedding wrestling match, but only one of them walked away with the title
An extraordinary wedding in China has gone viral after a newlywed couple ditched traditional vows to face off in a full-blown professional wrestling match.
In a high-stakes battle of the sexes, it was agreed that whoever lost the bout would be lumbered with household chores for the rest of their days. The unique spectacle was masterminded by the groom, He Yinsheng, a professional wrestler from Zunyi in Guizhou province.
He staged the celebration at a local hotel earlier this month, swapping out the standard romantic wedding stage for a fully functional wrestling ring, complete with a massive screen hyping up a dramatic “Groom vs Bride” showdown.
The newlyweds captained their own respective teams in a best-of-three contest, reports the South China Morning Post.
Footage from the big day shows a roster of performers hitting the ring first, warming up the crowd with a series of high-impact moves, jaw-dropping body slams and intense close-range grappling.
Guests were left completely transfixed by the action, with several children spotted holding their dinner bowls, totally forgetting to eat.
When the main event arrived, the bride and groom finally stepped between the ropes. Backed by a roaring crowd, the bride quickly took control, dodging her new husband’s attacks before executing a flawless shoulder throw that slammed him flat onto the canvas.
The referee wasted no time in counting the pinfall and declaring her the victor, loudly announcing that she was “exempt from doing housework for life”.
Despite the match being carefully rehearsed beforehand, the spectacle kept the audience on the edge of their seats.
Speaking to mainland media outlet Xiaoxiang Morning Post, the groom reassured everyone that safety was taken care of, noting that all participants were professionally trained.
He also admitted that the defeat was entirely part of the plan. He said: “Of course I had to lose in the end. I could not let her do the housework.”
The idea actually came about as a brilliant money-saving hack. While planning the big day, he noticed the budget was spiralling out of control.
Instead of shelling out for standard singers and dancers, he decided to put on a wrestling show instead.
His supportive bride was fully on board, while their parents admitted they “did not understand it, but respected their choice”.
While the couple have kept the details of how they first met under wraps, their unconventional big day was an absolute smash hit.
He said: “Our wedding had food and a show, so people were happy to attend. In the end, nearly 300 guests turned up, far more than we expected.”
Aside from saving cash, the groom hoped the stunt would shine a spotlight on China’s niche professional wrestling scene, which is currently a small subculture usually restricted to bars, beer festivals and corporate events.
Unsurprisingly, the wedding has become a massive talking point across Chinese social media. One envious user said: “Can I buy a ticket to their wedding?” Another posted: “They should take this wedding on a nationwide tour.”
