Julian Alvarez doubts raised
Marcos Llorente has cast uncertainty over Julian Alvarez’s future at Atletico Madrid beyond this season. This development could strengthen Arsenal’s prospects of securing the former Manchester City striker in a summer raid.
The 26 year old has caught the attention of the Gunners, PSG, and Barcelona. Alvarez’s team-mate Llorente revealed to El Partidazo de COPE that he remains unsure about the Argentina international’s long-term intentions.
The midfielder admitted he doesn’t know what Alvarez will decide and “neither does he, as things stand today.” Llorente went on: “I don’t ask him. He seems fine to me, but maybe he wants to leave and we don’t know.”
Spanish publication Cadena SER suggests the former City forward has indicated a wish to depart Spain, which might prompt Arsenal to launch a bid. It is believed that a transfer fee reaching £90million could be sought for the striker, who has netted 49 goals across two campaigns for Madrid.
Anthony Gordon decision
Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon appears to have made his mind up on his future as the England international moves closer to a blockbuster move to Barcelona.
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with Arsenal and Liverpool, but he is now on the verge of joining Barcelona instead as he prepares to fly out for his medical to complete a £70million plus bonuses transfer.
Arsenal had been keen to sign the flying winger to bolster their left wing options, but it appears Arteta will have to turn his attention elsewhere to strengthen the Gunners’ frontline.
