‘I discovered a strong moveable clip-on fan on Amazon and it is my new summer time saviour’
As temperatures stay sky high, this little life saver delivers serious summer heat relief without breaking the bank.
With temperatures hitting seasonal highs this week, ‘sweaty Bettys’ like myself are currently in survival mode, frantically searching for methods to remain cool, calm, and composed. While some people might still believe that ‘ladies don’t perspire, we glisten’, I can guarantee you that this scorching weather may be delightful, but it has turned me into a hot, sweaty mess.
Fortunately, previous hot summers have led me to test numerous gadgets that promise to deliver immediate cooling. One of the very best I’ve ever tried is this £19.99 Portable Clip-On Fan from Amazon. Refreshing, compact, and an absolute essential, it’s an incredibly affordable personal cooling gadget that I wouldn’t wish to be without during this heat.
Of course, this little fan is no match for a larger, more powerful cooling device like a full-size desk fan, a tower fan, or even something fancier like a Dyson, but it is still pretty impressive for its size and price. Small but perfectly formed, an impressive amount of airflow is blasting out from its diminutive dimensions, making it the perfect saviour for this scorching weather.

Super easy to use, this little fan charges using a regular USB cable via a plug socket or my laptop. It came with its very own cable and a rechargeable battery that easily slides in behind the battery cover pane, and there is also a light on the back that lets me know when it’s charging.
With not one, not two, but an impressive three different speeds, I can enjoy a gentle breeze when I’m working at my desk, or I can ramp it up right now to produce a fine flow of air. It offers enough power to keep me cool even when I’m sweating it out at the supermarket or on a spin bike in the stifling heat.
Portable Clip on Battery Operated Fan

The handy little cooling device has been described as a ‘life saver’ by sweaty souls like me, suffering in the heatwave
The fan can be adjusted and angled easily, making it simple to find the perfect airflow. The clip on the base feels sturdy and secure, while the wide opening means it slips effortlessly onto bike handlebars and treadmills. I’d imagine it works just as well on pushchair handles, pram bumper bars, and pretty much anywhere else you might want to clip it during this scorching week.
If you can’t wait for Amazon to deliver, you can grab the Bush White Handheld and Foldable Desk Fan for £12 from Argos. More compact than my clip-on model, this nifty little cooler might prove handy on public transport or for stashing in your bag.
Meanwhile, at Dunelm, the Status Neck Hanging Fan represents a £15 bargain offering hands-free cooling while out and about. Featuring five separate settings, customers appreciate the practicality, though some mention it’s ‘a bit noisy.’
For customers with generous budgets, the SharkNinja ChillPill is creating quite a stir this summer. Priced at £129.99, this ‘3-in-1 personal cooling system’ boasts a high-speed fan, InstaChill cooling technology and ultra-fine misting capabilities.
Boasting over 10,000 Amazon reviews, customers have awarded the Clip On Handheld Fan an impressive 4.5 out of five-star rating. One purchaser described it as a ‘lifesaver’, adding: “It has three speeds, all pretty powerful to be such a small fan. It rotates 360, and it clips onto things, or you can stand it up by itself. I’m someone who sweats a lot, and this has cooled me down plenty of times! It is also pretty quiet!”
Another said: “This small fan is awesome! Three quiet speeds, charges on a USB-C charger- no batteries and lasts a week (one hour a day during spinning class) with a charge. It’s a lifesaver at the gym! Will take camping too. Everyone at my gym is getting one. And what a great value for the price.”
A third shopper wrote: “This is quite frankly excellent. I have had other similar little fans before, but this one is fantastic value for money. The strength of the fan at the top speed is considerable, given that it’s so small and cheap. Very easy to carry in my gym bag.”
However, not every customer was entirely convinced, with one three-star review stating: “These little fans work really well, are convenient, but the battery life is terrible. They only lasted about 3 hours before losing all the charge. I had to keep them plugged in to continue using them.” Most purchasers were as thrilled as I was with the compact fan.
Another customer elaborated: “I’ve bought six other clip types [of fans] that don’t have a battery, and that’s fine, five of them are in static locations. But this type gives total freedom. On the lower setting, it lasts a day, the fastest, which makes you hear the wind racing past your ears, it’s that effective… Several hours, brilliant… the flexibility of a clip is a game changer. So impressed.”
