Man, 25, spends £30k on surgical procedure and says his dream is to be ‘alien Barbie doll’
Mitchell Jones, 25, a hairdresser from Chatham, Kent said he regularly stacks up to six pairs of false lashes at a time and said he’s been fascinated with cosmetic surgery for years
Most people spend a few minutes getting ready before leaving the house. Mitchell Jones spends considerably longer.
The 25-year-old hairdresser from Chatham, Kent, is rarely seen without towering false eyelashes, full-glam makeup and an outfit in his favourite colour pink. He regularly stacks between four and six pairs of false lashes at a time, has spent around £30,000 on cosmetic procedures and is already planning a facelift before turning 30.
While some people chase natural beauty, Mitchell has something entirely different in mind. His dream is to become what he describes as an ‘alien Barbie doll’. “I love having cosmetic procedures because I love customising myself,” says Mitchell.
“I have my own idea of perfection. I think there is a big stigma that people have cosmetic surgery because they are insecure. However, in my case, I get surgery because I have my own idea of beauty and know exactly how I want to look.
“If I want to change something, why not change it? Surgery has changed my life and made me a much happier person and I don’t think I will ever reach a point where I stop getting procedures done because I believe you can always improve yourself.”
Mitchell’s fascination with cosmetic enhancements started young. He says he always knew he wanted surgery and couldn’t wait to begin altering his appearance. His anti-ageing routine started at just 17 when he began having Botox, before later undergoing a nose job, veneers and a lip lift.
Since then, he has spent thousands creating the look he always imagined for himself. But surgery isn’t the only thing that makes Mitchell stand out. For the past several years, he has worn almost exclusively pink.
From his clothes and accessories to the décor in his bedroom, the colour dominates his life. The decision, however, wasn’t something he spent months thinking about.
“Wearing pink was literally a decision I made overnight,” he says. “The colour made me happy, so I decided why not just wear it every day? It makes me happy.
“Other colours don’t make me happy like pink does so I have no desire to ever wear any other colour. I like it. It’s girlie and fun, which is exactly what I want to be.”
His commitment to the colour is so strong that he has even worn pink to funerals. If pink is his trademark colour, then false eyelashes are his signature accessory. Mitchell admits he feels incomplete without them.
“Fake eyelashes changed my life and I feel like a freak without them,” he says. “I will never forget the first time I ever put them on. The surge of confidence they gave me, I will never forget.
“When I don’t have them on, I don’t feel like myself. I like people to see me how I want to be perceived, so I would never leave the house without them because lashes are my identity and I would not want to be perceived without them.”
His lash obsession comes at a cost. “I wear four to six pairs of lashes at a time so it’s a constant expense buying new lashes,” he says. “I always have to keep a few spare pairs because my biggest nightmare is losing them and not being able to wear any.”
The glamorous look has helped Mitchell build a loyal online following, but it has also made him a target for trolls. He says negative comments are a daily reality.
“I am always getting trolled online and get hate comments every day,” he says. “The only hate comments that really stand out to me are people saying that my family should be ashamed of me. I am very close with my family and just because I wear makeup, it makes me upset that people think they should be ashamed of me because of how I look.”
Despite the criticism, Mitchell has no intention of changing. In fact, he is already planning his next procedures. His biggest fear is ageing and he is determined to do everything possible to preserve his youthful appearance.
“I want a facelift by the time I’m 30,” he says. “My biggest fear is ageing. I never go in the sun and I have been having Botox since I was 17. I will stop at no limit to achieve my goal look.
“I don’t want to look conventionally beautiful. I want to look like an alien Barbie doll and I will stop at nothing to look how I want to look.”
And while some may view his appearance as extreme, Mitchell sees things very differently. For him, beauty is personal. Since launching his TikTok account in 2021, Mitchell has built a huge online following and amassed more than 1.1 million likes by documenting his dramatic look, beauty routine and cosmetic surgery journey.
“In the future, I don’t ever see myself giving up on my dream of reaching my idea of perfection,” he says. “I think beauty is subjective. Just because other people may think it’s extreme, to me it’s normal.”
