Arsenal information: £65m ‘might tip stability’ in switch talks as membership chief hints at price ticket
Arsenal’s summer midfield recruitment drive continues, with the Gunners finding out the fee expected for one top prospect and another perhaps out of reach
Arsenal’s efforts to revitalise their midfield are ongoing with the Gunners eyeing a £65million ace.
Piero Hincapie’s loan arrangement being converted into a permanent transfer has represented Mikel Arteta’s sole incoming business this summer thus far. His ambitions to strengthen his squad, particularly in the engine room, has been extensively debated with the Spaniard reportedly focusing on two specific players.
The north Londoners are gearing up to retain the Premier League crown after winning it for the first time in 22 years as Arteta seeks to reinforce while at the top. Nevertheless, potential obstacles may have emerged with the valuation of one target and the hesitancy of a club to part with their prized possession in a second case. World Cup star warning
Arsenal’s rumoured pursuit of Morocco sensation Ayyoub Bouaddi has been extensively covered this summer. The 18 year old Lille talent has excelled for his country in the World Cup 2026 with the current AFCON holders progressing to the quarter-finals where they’ll meet France, reports the Mirror.
The youngster is also understood to have captured the attention of Manchester United and Liverpool as the Premier League trio were informed that they may need to table offers exceeding the £100million threshold if they wish to secure Bouaddi.
Lille president Olivier Letang told Eurosport: “Many clubs are interested in him, but very few can afford him right now. He’s already one of the best midfielders in the world and still has significant room for improvement.
“He’s only 18 and has his whole future ahead of him. He’s focused on continuing to develop and winning everything.”
Referencing the recent transfers of Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali, Letang said: “How much have players like [Elliot] Anderson or [Sandro] Tonali been sold for, who are much older, but without room for improvement, so you have an idea of the value of Ayyoub, who has a unique profile at only 18-years-old.”
Before the president’s remarks, earlier reports had indicated Lille priced the midfielder – who has three years remaining on his deal – at £60m. But now it appears he may have a price tag in excess of £100m on his head.
Gunners told target is ‘priceless’
Bouaddi isn’t the sole midfielder on Arsenal’s radar as interest in Newcastle skipper Bruno Guimaraes was rekindled this summer.
A verbal bid for the Brazilian – thought to be around £55m – was already rejected by the Magpies, with the 28-year-old’s representatives having been in dialogue with both clubs.
According to Chronicle Live, Guimaraes has concerns over Newcastle’s direction after they failed to qualify for Europe and have decided to sell Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon this summer.
Eddie Howe has already bid farewell to the duo and permitting the third departure of another crucial star has supposedly been firmly ruled out by the Premier League outfit.
But the Chronicle’s report adds that a £65m bid from Arsenal could be enough to “could tip the balance”.
The Toon are reportedly planning to present him with a fresh contract. The midfielder first attracted attention from Arsenal when he moved to Newcastle in 2022 from Lyon.
Before putting pen to paper with the French side in 2020, he was being monitored by them during Arteta’s inaugural campaign at the helm.
