New footage exhibits precise second Jordan Henderson suffers freak harm in England celebrations
Jordan Henderson’s World Cup could be over after the England captain suffered a serious injury following the 3-2 win against Mexico at the Azteca
Jordan Henderson suffered a serious arm injury while celebrating England’s historic 3-2 win over Mexico – and new footage has shown the exact moment it happened.
Henderson, 36, was stretchered off after landing awkwardly and hurting his wrist while attempting to climb over the advertising hoardings during the full-time celebrations. The former Liverpool captain required oxygen as he received medical treatment and was taken straight to hospital.
Speaking in a post-match interview with the BBC, England boss Thomas Tuchel admitted it looked “really bad” and added that he might need surgery.
Tuchel said: “Not good, not good, next thing is a right defender now with the red card, Jordan just fell over an injured his wrist, it looks really bad.”

Then in his press conference, Tuchel claimed: “He injured his wrist, he’s gone to hospital it’s quite a serious injury. It doesn’t fit with the night. I don’t know if there will be a procedure.”
Now, new footage has revealed the exact moment Henderson sustained the issue.
After the England team jumped over the advertising hoardings to be closer to the fans and sing – as it has become the norm following a win at the World Cup – a rendition of Oasis’ Wonderwall, the players then made their way back to the pitch. But Henderson didn’t make back in one piece.
Indeed, after seeing Dan Burn make it across the advertising hoardings, Henderson appeared to catch something on his way back over before losing control and falling straight to the floor.
But it was Henderson’s landing that caused the injury. As the Brentford midfielder tried to fall on the ground safely, he put his left arm on the floor, only for his wrist to then appear to snap.
Henderson’s teammates looked to form a huddle around him as he received treatment from the medical staff before he was taken from the pitch on a stretcher, receiving oxygen.
The incident occurred as he and his teammates celebrated a hard-fought 3-2 win. After racing into a 2-0 lead thanks to Jude Bellingham’s brace, Julian Quinones struck back for Mexico just before the break.
Mexico’s belief grew further when right-back Jarell Quansah was sent off for a shocking challenge early in the second half, only for Tuchel’s team to immediately respond through skipper Kane’s penalty after Anthony Gordon was brought down.
Raul Jimenez added a penalty of his own to half the deficit for a second time and increase English nerves, but Tuchel’s side managed to see the game out.
England are now set to face Norway in the World Cup quarter-final in Miami on Saturday evening. Stale Solbakken’s side progressed through to the last eight after Erling Haaland’s brace earned a shock 2-1 win against Brazil.
