‘Two dads arrested’ as police swarm college over ‘struggle’ after ‘shouting and screaming’

Two dads were arrested after an alleged fight started outside the primary school in Liverpool this morning (July 20). Merseyside Police were called to Abbotsford Road in Norris Green after a dispute allegedly broke out involving two men, believed to be dads, outside Wellesbourne Primary School.
Two men, aged 32 and 39, were arrested on suspicion of affray. Merseyside Police confirmed that one of the men had been taken to hospital to be checked over. However, there were no reports of any serious injuries as a result of the incident.
Wellesbourne Primary School later confirmed that the incident had involved two parents, which some of its pupils witnessed on their way into the school. The school have also branded the behaviour of the parents as “completely unacceptable”.

Al spokesperson for Wellesbourne Primary School said: “We can confirm that there was an incident this morning involving two sets of parents which was witnessed by a small number of pupils.
“Such behaviour is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the school. We expect all members of our wider community to act with respect and consideration.
“The incident was dealt with promptly by school staff and the police, and we will continue to work closely with the relevant authorities to address the matter appropriately.”
According to the Liverpool ECHO, who were on the scene at 10.50am, they saw two police cars were parked up outside the school and another was parked nearby. Officers were then spotted leaving the school just before 11.30am.
People who live on Abbotsford Road said they heard “shouting and screaming” at between 8:30am and 9am this morning as police cordoned off part of the road at the junction with Fairmead Road.
Speaking to the ECHO, one woman said: “I heard shouting and screaming but didn’t see what happened. I thought it was something to do with the school. I went to take my dog out and there were police everywhere, an ambulance was there too.”
Another woman said: “I didn’t see exactly what happened but it was chaos. There were loads of police, shouting and screaming. This was at about 8.30am.”
A third woman said: “I saw police cars going towards (Fairmead Road). I have no idea what happened. It’s really quiet around here.”
