British heavyweight sensation Moses Itauma faces experienced Croat Filip Hrgovic in the biggest fight of his blossoming career to date for the vacant IBF world title.

The 21-year-old has defeated the likes of Dillian Whyte and Jermaine Franklin to set up the clash against Hrgovic, who has bounced back from the only defeat of his career against Daniel Dubois to beat Joe Joyce, David Adeleye and David Allen and earn another shot at the IBF world title.

Itauma will be feeling the support of his home crowd in the O2 Arena in London, but Hrgovic has upset the party in England in two of his last three fights, beating Joyce in Manchester and stopping Allen in Doncaster. And the 34-year-old will be feeling the support of his stunning wife Marinela Caja from the side of the ring.

Marinela, 32, is also a keen sportswoman and plays volleyball; however, most of her personal life is kept private. Her Instagram account is private, with only her close friends having access to interact with her page.

But Hrgovic is no stranger to celebrating his relationship with his wife on Instagram. The brawler posted a selfie from their wedding in June 2019 as the happy couple left the ceremony in their hometown of Sesvete in the back of a lavish car.

He also enjoyed a mini break from camp in May as he spent time with Marinela and their young daughter. Enjoying a break in their homeland at the Boutique Hotel Alhambra, Hrgovic posted heartwarming snaps of his family, with the caption: “Slowing down the clock for a bit & enjoying some family time before the next challenge begins.”

The eyes and pressure of the fight will be on Itauma, with the Slovakian-born southpaw the firm favourite to win the bout. But the fight has an added level of fire after the two clashed on stage during the face-off, where Hrgovic slapped Itauma in the face as he was shoved off the stage.

Itauma is coached by Ben Davison, who worked with Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, and rediscovered his love for the sport after visiting his gym in Harlow as an amateur teenager.

Speaking on the eve of the biggest fight so far in his growing career, Itauma said: “I’ve always wanted to start off like Mike Tyson but don’t end up how Mike Tyson ended up.

“But now I’m in the shoes that Mike Tyson was, as in all the fame and accolades at such a young age, I’m starting to see and realise why he fell off the way he did. I just don’t want to make the same mistakes he made.

“I’m wrapping my head around these things and I guess that’s why I’m so heavily into books because I ain’t never been in this position before. There is such thing as too early, but I’m taking necessary precautions to handle it the way I believe I should.”

Hrgovic took aim at Itauma’s age, insisting the fight was coming too soon in the Chatham sensation’s career and promised to give him a boxing lesson.

“I am just telling you facts. I am not playing any games. I just tell you what I think in the moment,” he said.

“Like I said, I am not so smart to play these mind games. I think he is a kid, he is not mature enough and I think I am the man. I am a much better age, much more experience and yeah, that is it.

“No mind games. God willing you know I will beat him, I’ll smash the kid on Saturday and send him back to high school.”
