Man’s ‘comfiest trainers present in 15 years’ are actually £33 off at New Balance
“Bought these for a trip to Japan. Averaged 20k steps a day for 2 weeks and didn’t break these in. No blisters and very comfy.”
Shoppers looking for a pair of everyday trainers that combine retro style with all-day comfort can currently pick up the New Balance 878 for less. The popular trainers are reduced to £77 from £110 in a 30% off sale, making them an appealing option for those after a versatile shoe without paying full price.
The vintage-inspired design takes style from the classic New Balance running shoes, boasting a chunky silhouette that works well with a range of outfits. There are two colours to choose from – the first one combines magnet, harbour grey and bone.
The second is a mix of moonrock with concrete and turtle dove. Both styles create a neutral look that should be easy to pair with everything from jeans to joggers.

Comfort is another key point winning shoppers over – the 878 trainers boast cushioning in the heel and forefoot, designed to help absorb shock. A compression-moulded EVA footbed provides flexibility making them a practical choice for anyone who spends a lot of time on their feet.
One person highlighted this by wearing the New Balance trainers on a trip. They wrote: “These trainers where bought for a recent family holiday and after wearing them to a theme park and on long walks I can honestly say they are extremely comfortable and reliable.”

A second person said: “Probably the most comfy trainers I’ve found in 15 years. Lovely and squashy. Look good too, zero complaints.” And a third customer explained: “Amazingly made. Great quality and perfectly true to size.”
Someone did point out that sizing was an issue for them, commenting: “Poor sizing. I’m always a size 9 (as I ordered) and they were way too big for me.” The trainers comes in sizes 3.5 to 13.5 but it may be worth sizing up.
Comparing a few of their favourite brands, another buyer shared: “I didn’t expect to be so comfortable I always had Nike or ASICS for walking but these New Balance are great.”
At Nike, the Run Defy trainers are a popular choice, priced at £54.99 and stocked in seven colours. A shopper said wearing them is ‘like running on pillows’, but they are also ‘good for everyday wear’.
To save on ASICS, the Gel-Cumulus 27 trainers are on sale for £98 down from £140. Customers say they ‘wear them while working’ to reduce joint pains. For this particular style there are still seven colours available with the discount.
A shopper that had never worn New Balance trainers was left impressed, commenting: “As my first pair of NB I can now see what all the fuss is about. These shoes are very supportive and so comfortable – I never take them off!”
Another buyer said: “Super comfy, look and feel a lot more expensive than the actual price. Would highly recommend.”
