Boris Johnson’s practice evacuated in Ukraine after Russian drone strike on railway

Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson has reportedly been evacuated from a train after drone strikes in Russia targeted a railway line in Ukraine.
Johnson was reportedly travelling to Poland after attending a security conference in Kyiv when a drone alert at around 5am halted the train, according to German newspaper Der Spiegel.
Johnson and others were temporarily removed over the alert with the reports the former MP was unharmed. Ukraine was on high alert already after another train travelling on the Kyiv-Warsaw route was hit by a drone.
The former UK prime minister is understood to have escaped unharmed, with the ‘all clear’ given shortly after the incident when no further drones were detected.

Former Swedish prime minister Carl Bildt, who was also on board revealed that the train immediately behind them was hit by a Russian drone.
“This wasn’t our train [that was hit], but the one just minutes after us by the [Polish] border crossing,” said Bildt. “It was evacuated as the [Russian] drone approached and no one was hurt.”
The incident followed another event where a train on the Kyiv-Warsaw route was hit by a Russian drone near the Polish border.

The locomotive was struck but, according to Ukrainian railway authorities, no one was injured. The train was transporting 206 people, who were seen fleeing in terror following the attack.
There was no suggestion that the privately chartered train carrying Mr Johnson was directly hit.
It was also transporting Günter Sautter, one of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s closest foreign and security-policy advisers, as well as security advisers from Britain, France and Italy, German MPs, diplomats and academics.
