South Park is back – but viewers tuning in for the long-running cartoon’s latest season were met with a huge surprise as the show unveiled a new name, a remixed theme tune and a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment featuring a nude Donald Trump.
Season 29 of the hit animated series launched on Comedy Central on Wednesday (September 16), but it didn’t return under its usual title.
Instead, creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have officially kicked things off with a rebrand, presenting the show as “South America”. The premiere episode, titled South American Biker Gangs, opened with a revamped title sequence that swaps out the famous lyrics and slams straight into a new running joke.

The iconic Primus theme song has been remixed, changing the line from “I’m goin’ down to South Park…” to “I’m goin’ down to South America, have myself a time!” And about 20 seconds into the updated opening, there’s the moment that’s already gone viral: a fully naked cartoon caricature of the US President appears briefly, grinning as he rubs the American flag between his legs.
In classic South Park style, the animation also revives the show’s long-running gag portraying the president with a “teeny-tiny” micropenis, Entertainment Weekly reported. The show’s creators framed the overhaul as a pointed swipe at Trump’s real-world habit of renaming things with “America” – including his controversial push during trade disputes to rename Lake Ontario to “Lake America”.
And the rebrand isn’t just a throwaway intro gag either. The entire South Park universe appears to have shifted to match, with the town’s famous welcoming sign now reading “South America” and residents casually referring to their home by the continent’s name throughout the episode.

Parker and Stone even released a statement doubling down on the change, saying: “Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of ‘South Park’ to ‘South America,’” the pair said. “We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount – a Skydance Capitulation.”
Despite the Trump jab in the opening credits, the rest of the Season 29 premiere largely leaves the White House out of it. After seasons 27 and 28 leaned heavily into political storylines, the new episode reportedly steers back toward smaller-town chaos, focusing on a local conflict where Eric Cartman and the boys terrorise the town on high-tech electric e-bikes – sparking a turf war with Randy Marsh and the area’s more traditional bikers.
According to a review from IGN, Trump’s presence in the episode is confined to the title sequence, while the main plot centres on the town accepting its new satirical name and the escalating e-bike feud. UK fans can watch Season 29 of South Park in two main ways: streaming on Paramount+ and on TV via Comedy Central.
The season premiere, South American Biker Gangs, landed on Thursday, (September 17) – the day after it aired in the US. New episodes also air on Comedy Central UK on Thursday nights.
The channel is available through pay-TV providers including Sky UK and Virgin Media. Because the series is running on a bi-weekly schedule for Season 29, Episode 2 is due to arrive on the same UK platforms on Thursday, October 1.
