Paedo instructor abused teen at school cabinets – then gave her prosecco and prawns

A twisted school teacher who abused one of his students in a classroom cupboard has been jailed.
Anthony Woolford, 76, was sentenced to 12 years behind bars after being found guilty of rape, indecent assault, and possession of indecent images at Guildford Crown Court, nearly 40 years after the offences took place.
According to a police report, Woolford abused his victim in a classroom cupboard on school property, before picking her up on weekends under the premise of taking her to church.
Instead, the grim educator would splash out on “prosecco and prawns” for himself and his underage victim, before taking her back to his house and abusing her while taking indecent photos back in the 1980s.

Several of these photos were unearthed in Woolford’s possession in 2018 as part of another investigation, with the victim identifying herself in them five years later.
In a statement, the victim said: ““Finding out that these photos still existed fills me with utter shame. The fact that he kept them, that he never destroyed them, means I will now live with a deep and lasting sense of fear and exposure. The possibility that they could resurface at any moment is a constant weight I carry.”
Outlining the impact of the abuse on her life, she also explained how she had battled alcohol and cigarette addiction, two habits she says were initially pushed on her by Woolford.

She described living in “a prolonged state of hypervigilance”, with “a persistent fear of abandonment, a compulsive need to please others in order to feel safe, and a heightened sensitivity to perceived aggression or conflict”
The victim said she was speaking out in order to protect other victims of abuse, saying: “For the first time, I am not carrying this alone. Coming forward has forced me to relive things I never wanted to revisit.
But I am here because my voice matters. By reporting what he did…I have stood up for the child I once was, and for every child who deserves protection and safety.”

Investigating officer DC Fiona Clare said, “I pay tribute to the victim-survivor’s courage in coming forward after so many years of carrying this burden alone. Her bravery has put Woolford behind bars, and it would not have happened without her.
“The pre-sentencing report assessed that the risk posed by Woolford ‘is unmanageable in the community’ and that he is ‘highly likely to re-offend’, so in coming forward the victim-survivor has undoubtedly protected others and prevented potential future offences.”
