This Morning host Alison Hammond was rushed to hospital on Friday after suffering what she described as a ‘little bit of a palpitation’, and has now confirmed what really went down
Alison Hammond has provided an update to her worried fans after rushing off live television clutching her chest.
The TV presenter ran off camera while presenting This Morning on Friday (October, 2). It was later revealed she had become sick and had been rushed to hospital. Dermot and Alison present Friday’s show, while Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley present the ITV daytime programme for the remainder of the week.
However an hour into the broadcast Alison departed the broadcast. Dermot O’Leary acknowledged Alison’s departure from the programme after the ordeal.
Dermot clarified her absence and added she wouldn’t be returning to the programme, reports the Liverpool Echo. He said: “Welcome back to This Morning, Alison is feeling a little unwell, so she’s just had to duck out. Hopefully she’ll be back.”
Alison later verified she was in hospital and was having her heart examined after experiencing a “little bit of a palpitation”. Alison informed her Instagram followers that she is recovering, and expressed gratitude to fans for their affection and support.
Speaking in a video on Instagram on Friday evening, the TV star said: “Hello my lovelies, I know you’re all worried about me. Honestly, I am fine first of all but I’m getting my old ticker checked out”.
She gestured to her heart in the video. Alison continued: “I had a little bit of a palpitation and now I’m getting it all checked out but I think I’m okay. I’m hoping it’s just a little panic attack or something like that.
“I love you all, thank you for all your lovely messages. I’m so sorry I left you, I would never normally do that, I would never leave a TV show. Just so you know I wasn’t very well but hopefully I’m going to be alright.
“The doctors are so lovely and they’re checking me out. Hopefully everything is going to be fine.” Remaining upbeat, she added: “It will be fine, I’m rocking it, I’ve still got my makeup on from this morning.”
In a second update issued today, (October 3), Alison disclosed she had experienced a panic attack. She added: “I’m home. I’m safe and I’m feeling so much better.”
Alison thanked the care team at the NHS who looked after her, adding: “I’m all okay. It’s all clear, which would mean I had a massive panic attack on live TV. The shame of it.
“But it felt very real to me. I’m new to panic attacks so I need to learn more about it but I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone at This Morning who looked after me. This is a new world to me. I’m going to take stock, get some rest and I’ll see you soon.”
Since Friday, Alison has received an outpouring of support from fans. In an Instagram story shared this afternoon (October 3), Alison gave followers a glimpse into how she’s been passing the time in hospital.
The post featured a throwback photo of Alison from her Big Brother days, captioned “Alison Hammonds funny moments” with the tag: “Just cheering myself up.”
