‘I tried a facial sculpting tool for two months straight – and I was shocked by the results’
Facial toning and sculpting has been the latest buzzword in the beauty industry – with fears of misguidance, I decided to put it to the test
Any beauty fan will know that the recent craze of facial sculpting has been difficult to miss. From endless TikToks to segments on daytime TV, the dream of getting a toned jawline and wrinkle-free forehead is still very much alive and well.
While there are several gadgets on the market promising this age-old desire, I found myself struggling on which to choose. That is until I came across Foreo’s tried and tested product, The Bear. According to the website, the Bear is a microcurrent facial toning device developed in Sweden and designed to improve the texture and appearance of facial skin.
With regular use, microcurrent devices can stimulate collagen and elastin production, resulting in a firmer, slightly lifted appearance. Sounds great, but whether it actually does the job is another question.
So, in my desire to achieve that sought-after look, I decided to put it to the test over two months straight.
I first received the product at the beginning of September. After a summer of enjoyment and not looking after my skin, I was ready to commit to an everyday use.
The device itself is small and sculpted making it easy to hold and manoeuvre across the face. Connected to an app, it gives you guidance on how to use the product and even a way to start it on your phone. This proved useful, as the buttons on the device are hidden and quite difficult to use.
There are 5 different intensities to the Bear. I recommend starting on the first setting, but I found I was quickly able to amp it up to the fifth with no discomfort.
Once started, the device sends little microcurrents onto your skin, which feels like tiny electric shocks. Much to my delight, there was absolutely no pain but it did feel a little strange at first.
Alas, the product is like nothing else on the market, but the sensation did feel as though it was making a difference on my skin.
Over all, I am really pleased with the results and how the Bear has slotted into my daily skincare routine. I’ve used it most mornings, never skipping more than a day. It’s so easy as it only takes two minutes.
It also comes with a Foreo serum, which you apply before moving the device around your face. This left my skin glowing and also made the device easier to move around my face.
The massage follows other gua-sha routines, with users meant to glide it along their jawline, forehead and cheekbones. I found this simple enough, with guidance available on the app, online and in videos.
Adding to this, the Bear has two nodules, which fit very well into the crevices of the face. While it felt sensitive around my eyes, the device is small enough to miss out on any places which contain more sensitive skin.
The results? I am pleased to say that within two months I have noticed a softening of forehead lines, especially around the middle of the forehead. Adding to this, I feel that general puffiness around my cheeks has reduced, meaning I look less tired when I wake up in the mornings.
Of course no device will give you that complete botox-look, but this product slots very nicely into your skincare routine and gives a natural complexion – better than botox and for a fraction of the price.
You do have to use it consistently for results, but two months has seen a visible difference in my face and I will certainly be continuing to use it everyday.
Besides, with Christmas coming up this is the perfect device for any skin-care lover. Self care, smoother skin and expertise all in one. And compared to other devices on the market, the price of this is extremely affordable.
I couldn’t imagine my routine before it, with nothing giving me such instant results.
Foreo’s Bear is available to buy here with the serum for £379.
