The latest weather maps from WX Charts show flurries of snowfall could hit around 15 counties in England and Scotland over the coming fortnight, with wintry conditions expected from around November 17
Temperatures are set to nosedive across the UK later this month with snow predicted in numerous counties. The latest weather maps from WX Charts indicate flurries of snowfall across 15 counties in England and Scotland over the next fortnight.
At the same time, the mercury could plunge as low as -10C in Scotland as Britain experiences conditions significantly colder than most of Europe.
The maps reveal snow hitting areas of northern Scotland, with up to 50cm predicted to settle in the Highlands, at 12pm on Tuesday, November 17. Simultaneously, flurries of the white stuff could fall in parts of England, including Herefordshire and the North.
Additional wintry conditions are anticipated to arrive on Thursday, November 19, with up to 50cm of snow forecast to blanket parts of Scotland and northern England. The day after (November 20), temperatures could drop as low as -10C in the Scottish Highlands.
It’s also predicted to be chilly throughout England and Wales, with temperatures as low as -2C in Cumberland at 12pm. The mercury could also drop to -1C in the Midlands, 0C in Lancashire, and 2C in London at the same time, reports the Express.
Meanwhile, the Met Office has warned there will be “wintry showers” throughout the UK in November, while Atlantic frontal systems bring rain and some strong winds. The forecaster is also predicting further unsettled conditions towards the end of the month and more heavy rain at the beginning of December.
In its long-range forecast covering Thursday, November 12 until Saturday, November 21, the Met Office states: “At the start of this period, outbreaks of rain across the south of the UK will clear away as clearer conditions spread from the north. A few wintry showers are likely in the far north, but otherwise this will mean a spell of fine and dry weather developing for most areas at the end of next week and the weekend.
“Over the following week, a change to more changeable weather is likely, with Atlantic frontal systems bringing rain and some strong winds. After a cold start, temperatures will probably be above average overall.”
It adds in its forecast from Sunday, November 22 until Sunday, December 6: “Changeable or unsettled conditions are expected through the last part of November. Atlantic frontal system are likely to spread across the UK, bringing some heavy rain at times and a chance of strong winds.
“Drier, brighter interludes are likely between systems, and it is possible conditions could become drier overall into early December. Temperatures are likely to be above normal overall.”
