Man Utd ‘change switch plans’ as star exhibits true colors along with his behaviour

One Manchester United star has been linked with a loan move away as the club assesses its options in the transfer market after a difficult start to the season

Kobbie Mainoo has had a challenging start to the Premier League season under Ruben Amorim, but remains determined to secure a regular spot in Manchester United‘s squad.

The 20-year-old is vying for his first league start this Sunday when United take on Liverpool at Anfield. Mainoo has made appearances in all five league matches so far, coming on as a substitute after being left on the bench for the first two games of the season.

Due to limited playing time, the young player sought a loan move over the summer, but this was rejected. Meanwhile, United are reportedly interested in Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, with the New Year transfer window approaching.

Wharton, 21, moved to Palace from Blackburn in a deal worth roughly £18 million plus add-ons in January 2024 and has quickly become a key figure under manager Oliver Glasner.

His standout performances earned him a call-up to the England squad for Euro 2024, reports the Mirror.

According to the i paper, Amorim is said to be a fan of Wharton, which could see the club prioritise him over Brighton’s Carlos Baleba. Baleba’s inconsistent start to the season has reportedly raised eyebrows at United.

The report suggests that Wharton’s potential arrival might prompt Mainoo to consider “seeking pastures new”.

However, it’s indicated Mainoo now he isn’t looking to leave Old Trafford and is keen to make an impression, having undertaken extra strength training during the international break.

Sources close to Mainoo reportedly believe he is “ready to step up” and aid United in improving their inconsistent start to the season.

Although a loan move in January could potentially be reconsidered before next summer’s World Cup, it’s understood that a permanent transfer isn’t part of the midfielder’s plans.
