What will occur subsequent for Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie and their royal titles revealed – as each flee the nation amid Andrew’s last humiliation

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are set to keep their royal titles in the wake of their father’s disgrace but their newly ‘tarnished’ status will have consequences, a royal expert has claimed.

Last night, Buckingham Palace confirmed that Andrew will no longer be known as a prince and, from now on, will simply be called Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.

Although the former duke has been stripped of all his remaining titles, his daughters, Beatrice, 37, and Eugenie, 35, will remain princesses of York.

As daughters of the son of a sovereign, the sisters, who jetted out of the country this week amid the mounting pressure surrounding their parents, retain their titles in line with King George V‘s Letters Patent of 1917.

However, royal expert Christopher Wilson told the Daily Mail today that King Charles’s ‘soft-hearted’ approach to his nieces ‘may come back to bite him’ – and it may be up to Prince William to ‘finish the job’ when he becomes King later down the line.

As for Beatrice and Eugenie themselves, their princess titles will be ‘tarnished in the eyes of many’ due to their father and his links to Jeffrey Epstein, Mr Wilson claimed.

If opportunities dry up, the Princesses could be forced to accept more ‘low-grade offers’ like their mother, Sarah Ferguson, who, over the years has been accused of undertaking ‘dubious’ charity work and offering access to Prince Andrew for cash.

Mr Wilson told the Daily Mail: ‘The princesses use their titles to earn money – and if that starts to dry up as a result of their father’s disgrace, they may be tempted to follow their mother Fergie’s example of accepting more and more low-grade offers to use their face and name in order to rake in the cash.’

Both sisters have paid full-time jobs but do not receive cash from the Sovereign Grant as they’re not working royals. They also benefit from a trust fund set up by the Queen Mother for her great-great-grandchildren, and received money from their parents’ divorce in the 1990s.

Beatrice is married to millionaire property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, while Eugenie’s husband, wine merchant Jack Brooksbank, is also wealthy in his own right.

Previously, the former Duke of York’s website said he ‘supports both of his daughters financially’, but now this source of income and any other monetary benefits that may come with their titles will be brought into question.

Mr Wilson added: ‘Dealing with ruthless businessmen who know how to exploit a royal title has been Fergie’s downfall, and it could be theirs too.

‘Neither woman has a husband with a job which can sustain them in the style to which they’ve long been accustomed – and they too may find it harder to maintain their status in the business world now that Andrew is no longer royal.’

As ninth in line to the throne, Beatrice is an adviser for Afiniti, an artificial intelligence software firm, and a co-founder of The Big Change Charitable Trust.

She has a number of royal patronages, including the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, the Teenage Cancer Trust and the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity.

Eugenie, 12th in line to the throne, is also a patron of several charities, including the Elephant Family, the Teenage Cancer Trust and the European School of Osteopathy, and also co-founded the Anti-Slavery Collective charity.

The princess became a mentor for The King’s Foundation’s 35 under 35 network of changemakers earlier this year and is a director at the contemporary art gallery Hauser & Wirth in London.

Both sisters are married and have children. They will be welcome to join the gathering at Sandringham for Christmas and other royal family events, it is understood.

However, Mr Wilson warned today that such leniency may not be permanent.

He warned: ‘I’m not sure that King Charles‘s soft-hearted approach to allowing Beatrice and Eugenie to keep their titles won’t come back to bite him.

‘Much of their wealth hangs on their closeness to the throne and now that Andrew has been kicked out and is just a plain Mister now, the ‘princess’ titles will be tarnished in the eyes of many.

‘It would have been safer for Charles to cut them off, too. But he’s a man with a kind heart, and he couldn’t bring himself to do it.

‘What’s left is the possibility – if they bring further disgrace on the royal family – that William will finish off the job and when he becomes king strip them of their princess titles. It ain’t over yet.’

A statement from the Palace last night said ‘censures are deemed necessary’ amid the ongoing scandal over Jeffrey Epstein, whom Andrew lied about cutting ties with.

Amid the controversy, it was previously understood that His Majesty Charles was very keen to ‘protect’ his nieces who remain Her Royal Highnesses as granddaughters of Queen Elizabeth.

‘He wouldn’t have wanted to sign off on anything that would impact them,’ a source told the Daily Mail.

Andrew is to be moved to a property on the Sandringham estate but the specifics regarding the relocation are unknown.

Beatrice and Eugenie’s mother Sarah Ferguson, Andrew’s ex-wife, however, will be forced to make her own living arrangements after moving out of the royal grounds of Windsor Castle.

The bombshell statement from the Palace on Thursday night read: ‘His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew.

‘Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence.

‘Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation.

‘These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him.

‘Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.’

It is understood the King Charles III is in the process of sending royal warrants to the Lord Chancellor to remove his brother’s titles and honours. Andrew is said to have not objected.

It is understood Prince William and the Royal Family fully support the King’s leadership on the recent move.

The move was entirely down to the King and his advisers, without pressure from the government or other family members, such as Prince William, sources told the Daily Mail.

‘The process has been under way for some while but there was a need to get it right in the face of some very big challenges,’ an insider said.

Notice was not served on Prince Andrew to move. It was his lease, so it was up to the former Duke of York to serve notice himself, suggesting that he is not fighting the process.

The former duke has lived at the Grade II-listed mansion on the grounds of Windsor Castle for over two decades with Fergie, despite their divorce in 1996.

Last week, the row over the Royal Lodge continued to grow amid damning revelations in a posthumous memoir from Andrew’s sex abuse accuser Virginia Giuffre, who took her own life this year, aged 41.

Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice was released in this month, with the manuscript having been completed before she died.

The explosive book revolves around her years spent as a sex slave to Epstein and his British madam Ghislaine Maxwell.

Extracts published by The Guardian show Ms Giuffre, who said she was trafficked by Epstein three times for sex with Andrew, called the ex-duke ‘entitled’ and viewing sex as his ‘birthright’.

Within the 400-page autobiography, she also alleged the ex-duke said ‘thank you’ in a ‘clipped British accent’ after their alleged first encounter when she was 17.

She also recalled how Ghislaine Maxwell praised her following the encounter, saying, ‘You did well, the prince had fun’.

In the wake of the Giuffre scandal, Andrew is facing a private prosecution over allegations of sexual assault, corruption and misconduct in public office.

It comes just weeks after Andrew was forced to relinquish his royal titles, including the Duke of York and stepping down from membership of the Order of the Garter.

His wife Sarah, formerly the Duchess of York, is now known as plain Sarah Ferguson.
