Kingsway site visitors delays in Melbourne after dramatic police chase ends in crash

Melbourne motorists face a nightmare commute to work after a police chase ended in a dramatic crash outside Crown Casino. 

Kings Way remains closed in both directions between the West Gate Freeway and Flinders Street, right outside Crown.

Police launched a pursuit after spotting an allegedly stolen minivan at Truganina in the city’s west about 4am Tuesday. 

The van was followed along the West Gate Freeway until it exited at the Kings Way off-ramp and headed towards the city. 

The chase headed toward the city before officers called it off when the vehicle crossed onto the wrong side of the road.

Moments later, that same van crashed head-on into a silver taxi on Kingsway.

 The taxi driver and passenger were treated at the scene, while the minivan driver was taken to hospital under police guard.

Police allege a significant quantity of drugs were found inside the van.

Commuters are being urged to avoid Kingsway altogether if possible.
