Princess Kate followers left fuming as BBC make main blunder throughout Remembrance look

The Princess of Wales made a poignant appearance at the annual Armistice Day Service of Remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum this morning but it was not without controversy

Princess Kate made a dignified appearance at this morning’s (November 11) Armistice Day Service of Remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum.

However, the poignant moment was marred for numerous viewers when the BBC addressed her as “Kate Middleton” throughout its live coverage.

Royal enthusiasts watching at home took to social media in fury, condemning the broadcaster’s choice as deeply disrespectful.

The Princess of Wales, 43, cut a striking figure in a sophisticated all-black outfit, donning a crisply cut military-inspired coat paired with a bold wide-brimmed hat – a ensemble that perfectly married grace with the solemnity of the occasion.

She stood alongside veterans, service families, and high-ranking officials to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Social media platforms erupted with indignation following the BBC’s repeated use of Kate’s former surname, with viewers demanding that more than ten years after her marriage, and two years since assuming her title as Princess of Wales, the corporation should “show proper respect”, reports the Express.

Certain supporters maintained that employing her maiden name undermined the ceremony’s reverence, particularly considering the significance of the commemorative event.

One person posted on X: “Who is the moron calling the Princess of Wales “Kate Middleton” on BBC News?”.

Another commented: “Am I missing something? Is the BBC now not just left wing but also republican?”Kate Middleton” ? ? ? ? ? How bl**y disrespectful. This woman keeps on calling her Kate Middleton. FFS!” A third commented, “Can somebody have a word in the ear of your reporter at the National Memorial Arboretum – she should not be referring to the Princess of Wales as ‘Kate Middleton’! !”.

Meanwhile, a fourth person expressed their anger, writing, “How dare the #BBC once again be disrespectful to Catherine Princes of Wales at the wreath laying (broadcasting now). Several times the woman presenter used her maiden name. I am fuming! ! ! I would name and shame if I knew who she is.”

Scores of other viewers expressed their fury at the blunder.

Despite the backlash, the Princess appeared flawlessly dressed for the solemn event. She was photographed wearing a military-style Catherine Walker coat adorned with delicate braiding.

The outfit echoed an Officer’s Jacket or Commander Coat, making it perfectly suited to the commemorative service.

The princess had previously donned the jacket in November 2019, when she stood beside the late Queen Elizabeth and the former Duchess of Cornwall on the balcony, completing the look with a Philip Treacy hat.

Princess Kate was also seen sporting two poppies, rather than her customary trio of poppies – a subtle yet poignant act of remembrance.

The Princess is usually recognised for donning multiple poppies, a decision thought to pay respect to those who have served and to demonstrate her personal ties to military families, making this year’s choice particularly significant.

Princess Kate’s heartfelt tribute held profound personal significance, as it honoured her own family’s legacy of service and sacrifice.
