Rochdale Bypass closed ‘for a while’ as air ambulance attends main incident
An air ambulance has been scrambled to the scene along with paramedics and police, to the Rochdale Bypass (A664), with the road currently taped off in both directions
A major road in Rochdale has been cordoned off this afternoon after a woman was hit by a lorry. Emergency services, including an air ambulance, paramedics and police officers, were sent to the scene on the Rochdale Bypass (A664), which is currently sealed off in both directions and will be “closed for some time,” reports the Manchester Evening News.
According to live traffic service Inrix, there is ‘very slow traffic’ in the area due to the major road closure of the bypass, otherwise known as Albert Royds Street. The road is taped off currently between Reservoir Street and Roch Street.
The M.E.N understands that the HGV struck a woman, a pedestrian, at around 2.30pm today. It’s understood she was taken to hospital from the scene with serious injuries.It’s understood she was taken to hospital from the scene with serious injuries.
Videos from the scene this afternoon show a large cordon in place and heavy police presence in attendance.
A large HGV with the hazard lights flashing can be seen within the cordon and is the subject of investigations by police. No further details about any arrests being made have been released by police.
