Poundland has issued an urgent warning about a specific batch of a beloved snack due to safety fears. Shoppers are being urged not to eat these products and to bring them back to stores for a complete refund.
The budget chain’s recall concerns particular 100g packets of ‘The Tasty Snack Co. Roasted and Salted Cashews’. There are concerns that packs bearing batch codes ’56T 25255′ may contain glass fragments, posing a health hazard to buyers.
A notice issued by the store said: “Poundland & Dealz is recalling 934088 ROASTED & SALTED CASHEW NUTS as a precaution because the product may contain glass, making this unsafe to eat.” It added: “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.
“However, the safety and confidence of our consumers and the quality of our products is at the heart of everything we do.” Items covered by this recall also feature a barcode reading ‘5045730461405’ and have a best-before date of July 19, 2026.
A statement from the UK’s Food Standards Agency echoed many of these points, whilst noting: “If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be ‘withdrawn’ (taken off the shelves) or ‘recalled’ (when customers are asked to return the product).
“The FSA issues Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food. In some cases, a ‘Food Alert for Action’ is issued. This provides local authorities with details of specific action to be taken on behalf of consumers.”
Regarding Poundland specifically, it added: “Poundland & Dealz is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling it. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought it.”
Customers who have purchased an impacted batch of ‘The Tasty Snack Co. Roasted and Salted Cashews’ may take it back to any Poundland outlet for a complete refund. No receipt or evidence of purchase is necessary for this process.
