A serious collision involving a police car has led to the closure of a road in Manchester this evening, with emergency services currently at the scene on Oldham Road near Miles Platting.
Footage from the location reveals numerous emergency vehicles present. One vehicle seems to have sustained significant damage, and a police car also appears to have crashed into roadside railings.
The road remains closed as fire crews and paramedics attend the scene. The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service have confirmed they were called to reports of a collision on Oldham Road at approximately 6.05pm. Two fire engines were sent to the scene, along with an Enhanced Rescue Unit which also remains in attendance tonight.

It’s understood it involved two vehicles, reports the Manchester Evening News. A police car ca be seen with a badly crushed bumper after appearing to have smashed into some railings. A black Range Rover is in the centre of the road and has significant damage.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At 6.05pm this evening (Monday 12 January 2026), two fire engines from Manchester Central and Philips Park fire stations, and the Enhanced Rescue Unit from Leigh Community Fire Station, were called to attend a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Oldham Road, Manchester.
“Crews arrived quickly and worked alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe. Firefighters were in attendance for approximately 45 minutes.”
