Around 135 millions annual leave days from work are scuppered each year as folk use them to do mundane admin like doctor appointments and home chores
Britons are “throwing their holiday away” by wasting their annual leave doing dull tasks like chores and attending GP appointments, research shows.
Around 135 millions days are scuppered each year, research found.
Some folk are so burnt out from their day jobs that they simply rest at home on a holiday day off instead of jetting off abroad or booking fun activities.
But eight in 10 regret frittering away their annual leave, the On the Beach study found.
The findings highlight a growing disconnect between what annual leave is meant to deliver and how it is actually being used.
While workers overwhelmingly want to spend their time off travelling, resting and making memories, the reality for many is spent managing appointments, family duties and household tasks that spill into their only window for rest.
Zoe Harris, of the holiday firm, said: “Holidays matter.
“Proper breaks give people the chance to reset, reconnect and come back feeling like themselves again.
“Annual leave should be about memories, sunshine and switching off, not ticking things off a to-do list.”
Help may be on the hand though as boffins have created humanoid robots that can perform chores instead of us.
London-based tech group has unveiled a humanoid robot prototype that learned to walk within just 48 hours of leaving the factory floor.
Humanoid, the robotics company behind the development, revealed HMND 01 Alpha Bipedal, a robot they claim sets a new standard for speed and operational readiness.
Some eggheads have even suggested it could spell the end of housework for humans.
