A Brazilian influencer has revealed she endured an agonising cold burn on her bottom after plunging into an ice-packed bathtub during a disastrous DIY cryotherapy session while preparing for Carnival 2026.

The mishap occurred in Rio de Janeiro earlier, Brazil, this month, as 24-year-old Miss Bumbum champion Kerolay Chaves had incorporated ice baths into her fitness regime ahead of her Carnival appearance.

Kerolay, who’s set to perform as a muse in the musical section of the Estrela do Terceiro Milenio samba school, revealed she conducted the cryotherapy treatment at home using a blow-up bathtub crammed with water and heaps of ice, without any digital temperature monitoring. Kerolay said: “I didn’t measure the water temperature. I put in a lot of ice and, from the thermal shock I felt, it must have been close to zero degrees.”

She explained she remained immersed for far longer than advised, which led to a cold burn on her backside. Kerolay added: “The problem is that I ended up staying in longer than I should have, and that caused a cold burn on my bum.” The 24-year-old Miss Bumbum champion said she opted to experiment with cryotherapy as a method of conditioning herself for Carnival’s gruelling demands without resorting to cosmetic treatments.

She revealed: “I wanted to parade without resorting to invasive procedures. I looked for alternatives that could help with muscle recovery and physical preparation, and cryotherapy seemed like a simple option for everyday use.” Kerolay said the ice baths were typically undertaken following gruelling rehearsals and training sessions to assist with reducing exhaustion and inflammation.

Kerolay continued: “The idea was to use the cold to help my body recover, relieve tiredness and reduce the feeling of swelling. On many days it worked well, but that time I really overdid it.” The Brazilian influencer added she endured considerable pain for several days after the mishap and even found it difficult to sit down properly.

Kerolay confessed: “After that, I spent a few days with significant discomfort and difficulty sitting. Now I understand my body’s limits better and know I need to respect the right amount of time for each session, especially when doing this kind of therapy at home.”

The social media star is set to make her Carnival debut as a muse in the musical wing of Estrela do Terceiro Milenio, which is due to parade at the Anhembi Sambadrome in Sao Paulo on Carnival Saturday, 14th February.
